Hey all,

I've been on this forum since 2007 when I first got my GS. Sadly this may be the end of my GS500 journey.

The short version: Someone stole it. They jumped over the fence, forced open the garage door, and just wheeled it away in neutral.
I don't know what they can do without the key, but I wanted to put this out here in case any of you see my bike or it's parts for sale.
It was stolen 07/21/2021 from downtown Washington, DC.

Distinctive features:
-gas tank with welded repair on the bottom
-Custom 3D printed battery box with Shorai Li-ion battery
-flipped and cut taillight
- Renthal Streetfighter bars
-SV650 rear suspension with a lowering dog bone link
- Ducati Headlight fairing
- Retro-reflective decals on the left swingarm and right frame by the triple tree

I mostly rode it with the body work removed so you could see through the frame where the battery normally is, but the thief took the body panels as well, which were painted flat black.

I remember that tank repair when it was still yellow. In fact I still have pics of it somewhere - and that was clear back in 2006 or so wasn't it.

Sad to hear it got stolen.

Cool.

I SO feel your pain, mine was stolen 23/05/21, all I can offer is DEEP commiserations and a virtual beer or dozens to drown your sorrows in. You obv put a huge amount of effort, care and thought into your GS, got all the details sorted and the suspension just so for you - that takes a long time to get right and some despicable scroat* stole all that utterly unrecoverable stuff too.

BUT, they didn't steal your magical memories of special times on your bike, they will be with you forever, feel free to wallow in them for as long as you need....

*scroat = polite UK slang describing the most POS person using the most profane language possible x500.

I was going to post what I will do to the scroat if I ever get hold of him, it involves an extremely rusty bow saw applied to his tenderest regions v e r y slowly, with pauses between each cut to watch his face in agony, but it would probably get me banned from the forum for life....

Peace mate, and rise again when you're up to it, 'til then all the best from Blighty.

Was your tank yellow or blue originally. I have cut holes in both and got pics but I remember bashing out a few dents on that right front side in what I mentally associated with as your tank. Now that is the blue one. Not yellow. I dont remember why I even cut the hole in the yellow one, dont recall what its issue was.
But say which and I'll post the pics here. Just to enhance your memories like gruntle said, and serve as inspiration to me to get my a$$ in gear and get a tig welder and start cutting and welding these tanks after fixing the innumerable bad coating jobs.
Cool.
