Stalling engine

This is for my neighbour guys and ladies

His GS500 starts upput when he selects 1st gear the engine stalls
It does not jump forward it just stalls  Any Ideas

Yeah. Side stand switch, clutch switch, etc. is failing.

When it comes out of neutral the safety cut-out is firing, so some part of the switch logic is not working correctly.

Yup, I agree. It points to the side stand switch.
