Yea, I've managed to find the petcock, But rebuild kit is like $15 - anyway that is the last resort and I hope rebuild kit I bought works.

Oh eff it. The one I got for gs550 doesn't fit, isn't even close matter of fact.
I'm lost here. I'll probably buy a remanufactured petcock courtesy our best friends in china and pray that they dont bomb that flight along with Taiwan. With the luck I've been having lately, definitely possible.

I informed the dealer FortNine about the wrong spring.  They thanked me for reporting the compatibility issue and will give me a full refund for the kit (I do not need to return it)
When I asked about other kits, here is what they said

The Parts Unlimited model is the exact same product. All Balls is the root manufacturer for them, Quaboss, Pivot Works, and a few others too, so you would not be getting a different part.
At the moment I do not have an alternative that we could confirm. Sorry about that.
Thank you for your understanding,

The old 'stretched' spring seems to be working well so far, but I still want to replace it.  This was my first purchase from FortNine, and at least have zero complaints about their service.
I think I will just try to find a 'generic' spring. As long as the size, windings and rate are close it should work.

Just a follow up in case anyone is looking lol.
After 2 weeks the stretched old spring seems to be doing the job fine.  No leaks whatsoever from the petcock.

I also filled the bowls with straight Seafoam High Mileage and let it sit for 2 days.
Rather than drain it out, I just fired up the engine and ran it through.  It took another 5 km for it to fully clear out.

I can't remember the last time the engine ran this well.  And it leaps into life as soon as I touch the starter.  Its reptilian nature is quite apparent though. It still likes a bit of choke at anything below full operating temp, even in summer.  But now that I understand that's normal I can easily live with it.

I wouldn't have done seafoam, the problem is that if its high ph (alkaline) it will tend to strip the shiny part off the aluminum carb body. The exposed cast aluminum like metal will give off white powdery crap that will clog things up.
I prefer to mechanically clean the carb and that way you just deal with the jets. Not everything else.
I guess I'm buying a new petcock.
