oil strainer location

is it inside the crankcase or is it accessible from the oil pan?

the oil filter is in a dinky container secured by 3 bolts which frequently get sheared on the front of the crankcase but best if you drain from the crankcase first but really you need a spangulator to do it properly...

The strainer is indeed accessible from the oil pan. I was able to get to mine when I took the pan down to replace the pan gasket. I was glad I did because it caught some of those notorious orange epoxy bits our bikes like to part ways with.

thats good news lol. i put a new clutch basket, plates and springs about 2 months ago and used gasket sealant in place of the oem gasket so that i can save the gasket set i got for a rebuild but wanted to make sure no sealant got into the strainer or anywhere important. im getting ready to rework the cylinder and wanted to put a slightly larger piston in but havent looked into it to much yet. i wanna find a piston thats got the same clearances, pin etc. but also i bought another set of transmission gears and counter and mainshaft and the whole gearshifting assembly for $50 online and my bike is pretty clunky shifting to second gear. and also I need to do a valve adjustment. im gonna be busy for awhile lol
