Changing front brake lever (and lever only)

Hi all!

I just got a Suzuki GS500 and I love it so far. I took it to a shop to have some maintenance done and when collecting the bike they said that my front brake lever had "had some work done" by a previous owner. This is when I noticed that it was indeed broken.

I ordered a new brake lever but when it arrived, it was only the lever and it was missing the adjustable bit. Personally I don't mind but this also meant that I had to affix to the ... brake saddle (the bit on the handle bars that the lever attaches to, sorry, English is not my first language) using a random bolt and nut. And well, it looks a bit sketchy :D

I wanted to ask for an opinion on how to judge if this is safe to ride. And if not, maybe you can recommend a online store that ships to Eastern Europe and can sell me an aftermarket lever :)

Thanks!

You sure that is the correct lever?, the adjustable machanism breaks it in two pieces, and you are trying to replace only one

Im not exactly sure, it was sold as a Suzuki brake lever and that's all the info I got :/ I realize that its quite different, but I'm wondering if I can still use it :)

Does it work like that?  I've put on some after market levers not meant for the gs that work and never had a problem.  I'd say if it works then good to go :dunno_black:

Wanted to come back in case someone else stumbles upon this. I ended up getting another lever that looks more like what the bike had before. That fits nicely :) Issue closed! Thank you all for the input :)
