Gimme that nekked FZ6. it looks like it was designed that way and the fairing was an afterthought for the US mkt. I hope they release the naked here.
Read Motorcyclist april 2004. All of the above are in it.  :cheers:

hmm, i'm going to go off the board and choose the sv650.

i'm not a big same fo the v-strom since it's just a heavier sv with more travel. i sat on the fz6 at the bike show and wasn't really impressed by it. the ergo's just felt off, and you sit really upright on it. it didn' have a very sporty feel to it. plus, i just love the usability of a v-twin.

for touring, the V-strom... good ergos, tall fairing, all-weather capabilities, and nice aftermarkets for luggage and accessories.

For commuting/pleasure riding... the FZ6 all the way (naked version).  I for one am insulted that Yamaha didn't bring the unfaired bike to the US.  Its like they think we are obsessed with plastic over here :bs:  .  The fairing on the FZ6 looks lame compared to the unfaired bike.  If they ever bring the unfaired bike to the US I will be severly tempted to buy.  Then again, I could always just rip the plastic off my R6 and make my own  FZ6  ;)

more upright than on the GS?
the gs position for was very super...i didnt really wanted to sell the bike, but the guy was begging me, begging me...i saw that glow in his eyes - you know what I mean, I had to give him the pleasure of owning this wonderful machine.

Plus my bike was '98, german version limited to 26 or 33 hp and did max 145 on the highway. I didn't want to unlock it etc...would've cost me and being in a small country is difficult and time consuming to order/wait for parts which are hard to find around anyway.

I have been lusting after a V-Strom since I read a riding review on the V-Strom DL1000. The rider described the experience as "fun" and "comfortable". He loved the ride so much he did something like 4200 miles in 2 weeks. :o  Reviews that describe a bike's racing perfromance just don't do anything for me 'cause what I want is balls-out FUN. :)  :)  :)

Now that the DL1000 has a little brother I think this warrants some serious looking into. :thumb:

However, the FZ6 sure looks sweet, and so does an SV650, or a Honda 599. Holy shaZam! I need to win the lottery.

I just couldn't help myself, this is what Yam has to say about it.

It's An R6 for the Rat Race

It didn't seem right to let our super-sporty YZF-R6 keep all that high-tech, high-revving 4-cylinder love to itself.

Enter FZ6 - light and flickable, roomy and relaxed, ready, willing and more than able to fly down your favorite back road whenever you are, even if it happens to be on the other side of the state.

A new and completely weld-free Controlled Fill die cast aluminum frame snugs the tuned-for-midrange R6 motor high and tight. Atop that firm foundation we built a do-everything motorcycle to deal with whatever pavement you can find, smooth or rippled, wherever you go.

Minimalist though it may look, the FZ6 gets the real-world goods you'll appreciate more as the miles pour on.

   * Thick, wide seat
   * Handlebar that reaches back to the rider
   * Big windshield atop a stylish half-fairing
   * Centerstand
   * Passenger grabrails
   * Luggage hooks
   * Big fuel tank

It also looks the part, thanks to the underseat exhaust and modern-spec fat radial tires on cool R6-style 5-spoke wheels.

Then there's the fact that this one's more affordable than it looks; if you like what you see, you better start planning a long ride now.

Manufacturer's Sugg. Retail Price...$6,599* .

Can someone give me an answer about how the inline 4 engine compares to the V-twin of the Strom and the Twin of the GS ... what should I expect?

I rode my GS in the 3500-5000 rpm range, nice and smooth... but it says the FZ doesn't even have usable power in that range, is this true?

Also, the riding position, judging from the pics I've posted it looks identical like the one on the GS...or am I wrong.

Is the naked FZ6 Available in the US? It doesn't seem to be on the Yamaha website. :dunno:

Have I ever mentioned that the DL650 is ugly as sin?
:)

That said, if I didn't already have a YZF600R that is a better bike than both of them put together,  :P   I would have a very hard time deciding.

The Suzuki is more "practial" , softer suspension for bad roads, better seat, but the Yami has the performance edge (higher top speed, lower weight, stiffer suspension etc) and looks better.

I could've buy Honda, '97 F3 - very good condition for half the price than the new 2004 FZ-6 Naked ... but those bikes, along with the YZF, R6 .. they simply scare the shaZam! out of me. And the position, lying on the bike is totally  unpractical for me in the city jams.
