not to be a downer but...

I will never ride with a backpack because I read a couple years ago about a guy who broke his back and became a parapaligic because he was wearing a backpack with a couple of cans in it.

they can be attached as a tank or tailbag too.

I took a header off a little freestyle bicycle at umm... had to be 20+ mph while I was an undergrad.  Was blazing down a hill from classes and the front mag wheel disintergrated  :o

Did a half roll and landed on my backpack.  Ended up with a bunch of road rash, but the backpack saved my back and head from impact.  Ended up melting the zippers on it  8)

Someone else on the board took a dive with a pack on, stuffed with clothes, and said that they would have been much worse off without it (sorry, I know it's a regular, but can't remember who).

Make yer own airbag.

For $160 I'd hope it'd make the best looking tank bag in the world. I ride with a messanger bag and truthfully feel naked without it.
No time to wash the bike

Well I hate to revive old posts, but for some reason I was under the impression that this is much like the Icon Urban tank bag because it also converts from a tank bag into a backpack. Am I mistaken?

The backpacks that are purpose-built to be motorcycle backpacks look like a better option, though - they're evenly hard, and I'm guessing would absorb and distribute force, while a can would concentrate force in a small area.  Any data out there on motorcycle hard bags?

That very page up there has the price listed as $134.95 (just to clear up any confusion.)

By the by I've seen a much cooler hardbag.  Here at beautiful Georgia Southern, some guy in the art department made a backpack out of a BMW M3 oilpan.  He chromed it out and everything.  Ok when I first saw it I was like "Wow, that's interesting", but then I found out what it was, and now I'm like, "WOW, that IS interesting!!"  :)
