When I was working on my rims I found out that you can sandblast them with different grades of media course, med, fine, and extra fine this really cuts time down--didnt have access to one --hope to have one very soon[img]C:\Documents and Settings\Valued Customer.YOUR-1RNFG39627\My Documents\My Pictures\shinebling.JPG

Polished rims... that's not a bad idea. Especially considering I spend everyday of the week doing that sort of thing (I've developed for making valve covers/intake manifolds/etc very shiny). I'd love to see some pictures... my other idea was to just powder coat the wheels gloss black...

Looks great!
How long did it take you to do the whole thing?

it took about a week start to finish(front and back-repainted brake discs) with trying to figure it all(first polishing job) out/it is a pretty good project sandblaster or media blaster would have taken about 2 days off the time....I did the work with regular tools and spent about $30 and I'll be able to finish the whole bike without getting anything but wetdry paper. To have a company in TN costs about $150 to 200 a wheel I said no way.. I'm getting a media blaster soon and going to be doing anything I can unbolt, and doing Mod's to the bike at the same time. Will have complete pics as time goes on.http://members16.clubphoto.com/jonathan826184/2152607-Pf9c0/

Thanks alot for posting this thread!   :thumb:

I've been thinking about how to refinish my Kat rims (same as GS).  You said it took a week but was that 2 hrs a day or more??  (ie what was the total hours ... about)  I was also considering powdercoat.  There is a local guy who does a great job at a fairly reasonable price ... about $60CDN per rim. (not including stripping paint).

It took about 20hrs a rim but its really hard to say for sure time I could do it alot faster now that I know what to do,and what works best...Powdercoating is a cool idea they've really came out with some nice colors ...the price sounds pretty good..... In thinking of what I wanted to with my bike I decided to go with the labor and really have a new found respect for my bike.... Thankshttp://members16.clubphoto.com/jonathan826184/2152607-Pf9c0/
