Hi,
Im putting a SV650 shock into my Gs this weekend. I Have heard that it will raise the tail of the bike about 2 inches. Will I need to extend my kick stand or do any other mods to make this all happen right with no suprises. Thanks !

nope.  the only mods that are necissary are to the shock itself.  you have to cut about an inch off of the flanges on the bottom and redrill a hole to allow the shock to fit.  Unless you want to start messing with the shock linkage dog bones, which I believe would require some welding and would make it impossible to return the bike to it's stock condition.  because you have to cut the shock, the bike will only be raised about an inch and a half, rather than two inches, but it's still a noticeable difference.  In my opinion the kickstand actually works better.  The bike leans over more, but it appears to be much more stable.  It always looked like a stiff wind would blow the bike over when I had the stock shock in.

let me know if you'd like some pics of the shock mounted up.  I should be able to show you were you need to cut if you have any problems.
