TAKE OFF THE GS500 STICKER!

does anybody know of a good way to take off the gs500 sticker on the plastic body? i want it to look clean.. and i dont want to scratch up my bike...

well if its just stuck on..

try some sticker remover like goo gone.

otherwise some wd40 works wonders..

some ppl have used a light hand and a hair dryer to get the stickers off..

try goo gone and wd40 first.

I did this a couple of weeks ago.  Just goo gone will not work.  Use a hair dryer first for about 5 - 10 minutes.  The sticker will just peel off in one piece.  Then you can use goo gone or 3M Adhesive Remover to finish off the sticky stuff.  That should do it.

nope... i'm only half-heartedly pursuing it because I want to get a few more spins in on it myself  

I will sell it when I get a reasonable offer from someone that I believe will take care of it.

Boiling water(or when the kettle whistles) will loosen the sticker allowing it to be removed, just be careful of burns.

The 6 is AWESOME!!!  I am really hooked.  So far I have exactly zero complaints.  Comfy for my 6'3" frame, oodles of top end power, and looks that just kill.  My only concern is the lack of power in the low rpm range... this may be what finally drives me over the litre barrier, but that won't be for a loooong time   I finally got her out for a long trip to see how the ergos really stack up, which was my main concern... took her for a 895 mile spin last weekend (see skyline 1.0 thread) and my back, wrists and knees lived to tell the tale, so that settles it... no need for the GS anymore

It's great to finally hear something positive about sportbikes ergos.  All you seem to hear is negative comments.  At least it works for you.  I may be getting a YZF600R soon.

How about just trying to peel it off? I let my bike sit in the sun for a while then walked out and peeled up one corner with my nail. Then I proceeded to peel it back slowly so it wouldnt leave a residue. Probably easier on my 01 than on an older bike. Might be worth a try.

You can purchase a decal remover at most auto parts stores that sell body supplies.  It is disk like thing made of pencil eraser like material that yoiu can use on a power drill.  It pretty much erases the decal.  The plastic is no problem, but note the tank is usually clearcoated over the decal leaving a ghost outline.

Oh yeah, I forgot that before I 'just peeled mine off' I asked a body shop what they used to remove decals...they said >>3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner #051135-08987<<, and they said DO NOT ACCEPT SUBSTITUTES, ONLY 3M WORKS.

DO NOT USE GOO-GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!BE CAREFUL WHATEVER YOU DO!!!!!!!!
 I have used it on other things and it worked fine----but it wasn't removing my sitickers (89) so I let it sit for maybe 10 mins and it bubbled the paint off!!!!I tried other products and what seemed to be the best was Aircraft adhiesive remover (autozone $4.99). I may have had trouble on my bike because it was older and the stickers and been able to bake on in the sun so be careful if you do use goo gone..also the stickers on the bike were also clear coated over the top of the stickers and left a noticable outline of the stickers-- If I didnt have to re-paint I would have hit it with some 1000grit wet sand and polished the edge of the clear coat--

Just to clarify: the tank stickers are under clearcoat from factory, all others are not, from factory.
