So I think I may have misplaced the o-ring in the pic below.  Does anyone know if that's something I can get a hardware store, or is it some special size (looks pretty small)?  I'll know within a couple days whether or not I lost it (weather's so crappy I can get my bike out to work on it...)

Carefully remove cap. Don't loose the o-ring marked in green.

Also, does anyone know if that is a vacuum port or what?  My bike is having problems, and some think it sounds like a vac leak.

I think it will leak air into the carbs without that O-ring.  I had lost mine awhile back and the dealer wanted to charge me about $6 for it.  I tried looking for one at Home Depot but couldn't find a match.  Check bikebandit.com, I'm sure the price is cheaper than at your local dealer.

Oh Yeah?  What were the symptoms of air leaking into carbs?  I'm having a throttle response problem.

I never put my bike back together without the o-ring so I didn't experience the problem first hand.  I think I remember reading another thread saying that you're going to get air into the carbs without this o-ring.  So essentially running lean.

Srinath said lean lean lean, and Pablo said vac leak...  So I guess maybe both were right.  Anyway, bikebandit has it for about $3.  We'll see when I take it back apart...

Take it from the other carb and go to a car parts store. Make sure you don't loose that one too though. Very likely they'll have one that matches for ~$.20.

Yeah, that's a pretty generic part. You can probably find it at a plumbing supply place more easily. I was missing mine once, and it caused an erratic idle, stalling and surges in revs.  :x

I found one of similar size when I went to look but the replacement was too damn thick.  I didn't have much success shopping around, but maybe you will.

Dude, we're Gissers, we already had the Cheapass discussion....
If the part doesn't fit, make it fit!  :nana:
Cut it, weld it, glue it, take it to a vodoo wizard if it'll save you a couple of bucks! :thumb:

Believe it or not, I found the thing laying on the brick sidewalk outside my house where I worked on my bike the other days ago, after looking for only like 10 seconds.  Anyway, put it back in and is now running like it's old lean self again, but I'll be getting some 40 pilots soon...

Thanks for the help anyway...

OK anyone that is missing these or other carbs or gas contact O rings.... do not buy O rings from a plumbing place... those are made of Rubber... they will soak up gas and swell to 10 tiimes the sixe and eventyally... like in a few soakings... disintegrate. You need neoprene or BUNA-N O rings... autopart places have them... For this partucular situation I have punched out inner tubes with a paper punch and used it instead... of course if you want to check vacuum then make a hole in the middle of the thing with a needle... if the carb top rubber cap thing is missing then dont poke that hole and it wont matter.
Cool.
