Question on painting tank and other parts.

Ok I decided to repaint my bike.  The 1992 paint was severly faded.  I decided to paint in black.  Now I'm going to do this right w/ a professional air gun.  My questions comes with the prepping.  I stripped all the paint off the tank and will prime it tomorrow.  I sanded down the plastic ferrings and primed them.  Now what graid sand paper will I need to use that will best let the paint adhere to the primer?

This will be my first attempt at painting something professionally :-).  Do I need a special paint for painting the plastic pieces over the tank since plastic pieces bend?  I read the post where the guy painted his bike w/ spray paint but i'm to hesitant on that, I would like to try this w/ professionaly equip and eventually move onto my car and possibly other peoples cars.  I already have friends begging me to paint their cars and I said let me practice on my bike then my car and we'll see if I can do others.

Thanks,
Matt

Look at this thread, it's actually recent:

Also search through the site. There's a couple of threads on this.

I used a Dupunt Urethane black.  You're best off going to an industrial paint supply place and asking them what they recommend.  Black just happens to be the cheapest color.  If you get the right type of pain you can paint without priming and it'll come out fine.  Just try to avoid getting a run in yours (like I did), but who cares, my GS is a track bike now and is already battle-scarred.
