Looking for a good used laptop for cheap

I need something for school and travel and whatever.  Where can I find something under $400 that I can use in those cafe hot spots, at school's hot spot, use a modem to connect to the web ect...

Don't know if this is a can do for you. But I got a Toshiba Satellite for $500 shipped. Its got a Celeron 7 or 800MHZ processor I forget, passive matrix screen. Very basic but does the job.

Features: 10 Gig Drive, Nic Card, External Soundblaster Audigy, CD ROM drive, floppy, External CD Burner, Battery which I don't ever use I think it holds a charge for about an hour and a half last time I checked, Passive Matrix Screen, XP OS, Office '04 I think it is, click n burn software.  Screen is 10.4" Pretty clean as it never leaves my apartment. You can have it for $500 Minus the audigy and external CD Burner.
