Buell windscreen

This may sound odd, but I was thinking last night that the buell lightning or firebolt front windscreen would look pretty hot on a gs? I haven't looked at it for fitness or anything, but I really like the twin headlights on those bikes. Anyways, anyone ever tried this before?  Let me know what you think?

i bought JohnLA's Buell Blast windscreen from him... i think it looks great on my bike... very happy with it!

Im wasn't really referring to the blast, but if you have it post up a pic for me. Anyone, know someone with some headlight conversions?

Not only was the Blast screen used on some bikes but the one you're looking at too (with the offset hump). they all look pretty good on the round headlight. Mine is a ducati monster fairing.

yea, p i saw your site the sv looks good, but i mean like dual headlights, not the big round one. it may not be possible but i was going to get some measurements one day and try it out

Couple of people I know (personally) have done a dual headlight conversion using the Buell lighting(thats the naked one right?) dual headlight setup. Cheap new at HD dealer-only $60 and the screen even less if you wanted to use it too. Only thing you need is to fab a set of mounting brackets. pretty easy to do from what I've seen. I could direct you to a link showing in-progress shots of a bandit owner doing the conversion, but I'll have to search for it.

Thanks pablo, you hit the nail on the head. Yea the lightning is the naked sport bike, with a very small windscreen. the firebolt is actually a larger windscreen.  but they pretty much share the same headlights.
here is a link to buells website, and you can see the lights on both.  I think it would look really cool and unique, if you come across the pics of the bandit post it up i'd love to see.  

are you saying the windscreen for the blast is only $60?

You really only need to order 3 items from your local HD stealer: The headlight unit itself (mine was $60), the screen (I got mine for $60), and a large mounting bracket to attach the screen and headlight to. The bracket looks like this (I printed the picture out and took it into the dealer--make sure you get the bracket for the XB9S, since the XB9R bracket looks similar).



You attach the screen to this bracket using four screws included with the screen--if you look closely in the original pic, you can see the four screws, which correspond to the four holes in the bracket above. This bracket attaches to the brackets below, using the same bolts which attach the headlight.

To attach the headlight I bent some bar stock that I had laying around into the shape I needed.



Bending the brackets was the hardest part, since they have to be identical. This involved bolting them onto the two bolts directly under the black plastic instrument housing, noting which side needed to be bent a little more, and then unbolting and bending, etc etc. I went down to the local hardware store and found some mounting bolts for the lights, and then drilled holes in the ends of each of the brackets to attach them. As far as wiring, it was ridiculously simple. I cut the plug off of the headlight unit, soldered some connectors to the three wires, and then plugged the sucker right into the Bandit connector plug. The wires are even the same color. A monkey could connect this thing.

One thing I don't like: the high and low beams are independant--one bulb is high, one is low, and they aren't on at the same time. If I remember right, the wattage is 65/55. On the plus side, the brightness of this unit is like night and day from my old stock unit.

The screen and the lights were each about the same price, about $60.00/ea. The bracket was about $20.
Just went to Lowe's and got the screws and washers etc.
