Get one of those evaporative cooling vests and I think they make them for heads and stuff.  Those should work especially well in dry environments.  Too bad they don't work very good in a place like Japan  :(

Which vents work best and on what brand?

What am I doing up...... I should be in bed.  Damn you gstwin!

I can't really help much with which brands vents are most effective, but I can say that I didn't have a problem at all with my THH (yeah, its a cheap helmet) full face last summer in Phoenix. You probably won't actually want the visor up but just barely open while you are moving or it feels like you are staring down 2,000 hair dryers set on high.

Also remember that you can dehydrate faster than you can accelerate to 60mph on a bike down here.  Mesh jackets are great for keeping cool, but that moisture has to come from somewhere so drink up.

A white color helps. I'd suggest a Shoei RF-900, if you can get one, or the new RF-1000.

I use the not so protective open face helmet with a shield. This leaves plenty of room for air circulation, and breathing, but not the direct wind blast.
