WOW...i just picked up my bike today from valve adjustment and carb sync...and WOW!!...it's a totally different bike now...and pulls stronger too :) ...

but they didnt' tell me that the drained ALL the gas out of the tank...and i was out of gas half way home :o ... luckily there was a friendly canadian :thumb: that offered me FREE gas to get to a gas station  ...

not bad...how much did it cost you for synch and valve adjustment?

scratch

It's amazing what a little air in the tires will do...(ducks thrown rotten fruit) :)
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

I wonder if they fiddled with the mixture screws while they were doing the sync.  Maybe call them and ask the mechanic; start with "I'm really happy about the changes you made, and am wondering if you changed the idle mixture".  If you start with "what did you !@#$ with", you probably won't get an answer at all.

Pretty sneaky .. I like that.

It's possible when doing the valve adjustment to alter the engines characteristics slightly to get more torque in the lower or higher end.  They may have given you too much valve clearance.  Do you notice more valve noise (sewing machine noise)?  If for some reason they removed the cams to get at the valve shims they may also have put them back wrong ... maybe out by one tooth ... but I would think this would make the engine run poorly at all rpm.

Oh ya ... seems odd they would drain all your gas.  Maybe it's a standard safety practice or something ??????

I have mixed feelings about mechanics.  They are like doctors, best to stay away from them.  I don't mind paying the money but it's hard to get a good mechanic.  I put my into the shop to re-jet because it was running lousy at low speed.  Choke was kicking in on one cylinder when it first started.  Now they discovered a leak in one of the cylinders.  They suspect a valve but won't know for sure until they take it apart.
Good thing I have my new V-Strom 650.  So at this point I'm only pissing money away and not valuable riding time.  Going out Sunday morning for a 150 mile ride.  Would have gone for 250 miles but son has a hockey game at 10:30 am so I have to be there.  Going out about 7:30 am and should be back just as the Harley guys are starting their breakfast.
Got 800+ miles on my V-Strom and love that thing.
