I have a 2004 GS500F.  What are the largest / widest tires that I can put on it safely so it will handle better.  Also what brand / model.

Thanks

TheGoodGuy

The stock GS500F actually comes with the best tire combination, and infact the most recommended on here.. the BT45 model from Bridgestone. The stock sizes are 110/70/17 and 130/70/17. I am running 140/70/17 but for a new rider it does make the bike a bit lazy handling.. so i wont recommend it. YOu got the good tires on your bike .. those stock Bridgestone excedra's that we had was a horrid tire to corner on.

Stay with the 130s out back and learn the corner, the stock tires go quite a bit over. YOu can put 150/60 (pablo did) but its pinched when installed. Apparently there is some conti's recommended for our rims .. but not sure if anyone here has instlaled them yet. Our rims are 3.5..

If you find your handling weird, upgrade your suspension out front and back and you will love the handling of the GS. The GS is one the best handling bikes out there for the price.
