Hello I recently purchased a sv shock on ebay for next to nothing and have checked out pantablo's link on his page. My question is what will the extra 2in do, if anything to effect the ride and if the guy cut down the tabs why did it not have any effect? Also would any of you guys cut them down or just install like he recommends. Thanks...

If you cut the tabs it will give an extra 2 inches roughly on the rear ride height. Some people do it this way and just modify the stand to stop it from leaning over so much. I dont know what the handling of this is like since I needed to have the bike lower than standard for my very short missus.

You could leave it as is and modify the dogbones to then get what rear rideheight you want. I only figured that out after I noticed the increase in height even after the tabs were cut down.

I cut the tabs and drilled new holes for them which I figure most people could do and is a pretty simple mod on the scale of things. To get the original ride height back the dogbones need to be lengthened for sure or remade depending on how good at welding the person is.

Better off on the safe side and cut the tabs then go for a ride and see what you think of it before doing the dogbones though. The centre stand is still safe to use before you mod the sidestand if required.

O.K. so if i install then I'm going to have to modify the kickstand huh. Have you noticed any improvement over stock? From the looks of the shock it appears it may be stiffer? I really like the look of the mod but am hesitant to mess with the dog bones or the stand. So if I don't extend the kick stand it leans upright huh, so much so that a good breeze could toss it? Decisions... By the way I really like what you've done with your bike, and I've decided to get rid of the stock chainguard for a sv guard, really opens it up.

With the Sv shock it will lean over a lot on the side stand... ... so much people are worried it will go over... on the left side.
Cool.

It leans over quite a bit from I have read from others but at least the centre stand is still there. Gives you time to find a buddy that can weld in an extension or such. I am not sure if anyone has tried to see if there is a longer stand off of a different bike that may fit as a direct swap. Might have a squiz next time I'm at the wreckers.

It is certainly stiffer than standard but my original shock was totaly stuffed so not that much to compare with.

I have done a heap more mods since then to mine too. I should get up some pics. Just trying to find some stickers I like for it to finish it off.

PS. I also have the SV rear sets on it now. Home made jack up plates and just had to extend the shift rod and done. Took about 30 minutes and saved a heap of weight. Those GS rear sets are good for door stops and thats about it.
