OK Here is my bike progression.

(March 2003)
2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250R - I put 7000 miles on this bike in the first year. Great learning tool.

(June 2003)
1994 Suzuki RF900R - Put 3000 on this bike over the winter, and sold it in January. It hads gobs of power (around 115hp range). I eventually sold the bike becuase it wasnt any fun, I would alway take the ninja 250r to work for my commute. The Suzuki was just to powerful, 80mph felt like 25mph, and it couldn't rail corners as well as the 250R. Maybe this makes me a wuss..... but its funner to ride a slow bike fast, then a fast bike slow :)

(Febuary 2004)
1999 Suzuki GS500E - My friend had this bike sitting in the garage. He bought it new in 1999, and put 24 miles on it. He wanted a smaller bike, so I traded the ninja 250R to him plus $200 for it.

addendum:

I have put 2300 miles on my GS500 since I got it in Feb. so that about 12000 miles in my motocycling year. Havent laid on down yet (crosses fingers). Rode year around, and commuted rain or shine in Seattle WA. Except for those 3 day where it snowed.

Not bad for a newb.

OK Im done tooting my own horn now

I just love my GS.  My 1980 GS750 was fun too but the GS500 feels so LIGHT it's a joy to ride.  I love slaloming through the painted dashes in the middle of the road, waiting in turns and taking them sharp and LOW, just weaving around when riding.  It's a blast.  I compare it to taking a jetski wherever I go.  Plus, I can take the wife fairly comfortably.

Starting in July 84,

81 CB400T  6k miles  bought new

82 CB750K  80k miles  new 2-85

81 CM400A  96k miles  used spring of 90

85 CB650SC  50k miles used in 96

97 GS500E  about 80k so far, new 3-99, totaled 7-03 and restored

02 GS500 about 6k so far, used 9-03

Total about 318k miles so far.  Baby got a new pair of shoes yesterday and is ready to go (AV45/46 size 110/80 and 140/80)

I was a mature adult rider until I bought the 97 GS and found out it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow.

Orange isn't my favorite color but orange bikes just seem to find me

1965 Orange Yamaha YG1(80cc 2stroke):  After restoring it to running condition, I rode it a few hundred miles to work last summer and to classes last fall.  Might be sold to a guy in Florida :dunno:

1998 Orange GS500E:  Bought it about a month ago, brought it up to my apartment last weekend, and started commuting on it, about 150 miles so far, looking forward to warmer weather to put a lot more milies on it

Let's see:

1991-90 Honda XR80- first bike ever loved it.

1993-90 Honda XR100- passed the 80 to my little bro, and stepped up.

1994-92 Kawaski KX80- first 2-stroke bike, omg what a difference from previous bikes. This bike took me to new heights, seriously.

2000-00 Yamaha YZ125-damn this bike was fast as hell!! Best I ever finished in the dirt was 5th, then got interested in cars and girls.

2004-01 Suzuki GS500E- I love this little street bike. Plan to keep it for a year or so and get something else maybe. But who knows, I may just keep the little gs. It's a blast to ride.
