I wanna get s gsxr can for my gs (cause I'm cheap..hehehehe).  But all I can find on Ebay are newer ones, and I've heard that the older ones are the ones to get.  I plan on cutting off my old one and welding the new one on (obviously gs's don't have a four-bolt flange).  Does anyone know of any reason that I couldn't use a newer pipe?  I saw one on a gsxr 750 at the dealer the other day, and the can looked bigger in size than my stock gs can, but maybe not, and all I can think that that would affect would be the mounting bracket (which I could move or rig-up somehow.  Any help would be appriciated....

All this talk of trying to make other bike's exhausts fit on GSs got me to take a set of calipers down to the dealer and raise some eyebrows.

The stock GS pipe has and OD of 45mm.
I found that both the GSXR1000 and ZX10R have exhaust tubes 49mm in diameter.  Oddly enough the smaller ZX6RR and ZX636 have exhaust pipes bigger than the liter bikes at about 54mm. or a bit over 2 inch.
Donno about a 600 or 750 flavor GSXR as the dealer was pretty low on bikes, but I suspect they will also be to large in diameter.

I am kind of hoping that the exhaust diameter from either a TL1000 or a Honda SuperHawk might be compatible, because these twins, with twin exhausts are 500cc each and you would think they would need to flow the equivelent amount...

You really don't want to try to cobble something together. The "step" in the header will do wierd things to the exhaust flow, and will hurt more than help. If you just want it louder, drill the exhaust end caps.
