Had a hard day at work, stopped and got a six pack on the way home.  Got home, no six pack.  arrrrrgh.

Funny thing is that there was no broken bottles (yes, I went back for the beer - beer is important).  In fact, no bottles at all.  Just the empty cardboard carrier laying by the side of the road.  Darn scavengers...

Moral of the story, don't trust a five dollar bungee net. hahahah

our friend has lost his beer today
it pains him more than he can say
it tragically fell from off his bike
the people partook, then took a hike.

may it rest in peace.

Oh, big smiles all round, except for V8pinto. Seriously though you need to be very careful about what is going on behind you, stuff slipping off the tail getting mixed up with your rear wheel and/or chain can seriously damage your health, backpack, tankbag, carrier & topbox all much safer options than tailpacks, cargo nets or bungees. Nobody hurt but the beer is a sad loss.

Last week I lost a SHOE out of my backpack.  I was heading out to the gym and I bumped into a friend of mine.  He invited me to ride out of town with him for a few miles.  I started out with my backpack fully closed, we rode 10 miles and I reached 90-100 on a few passes, then we stopped... my pack was fully open, and only one gym-shoe was inside     I rode back to look, but no luck.

What can you do.... stuff falls out, its an imperfect world  :dunno:

Not to mention the rider behind you! I was once almost taken down by an errant shampoo bottle that slipped out of my buddy's tail bag!! Nothin' like a bottle of Suave bouncing off your fender in a 70 mph lean!

The beer is lost
the bungee was shady
Good thing it was beer
and not your old lady.

Pam_G has an expensive story involving a bungee net and a tailbag.

She now uses a clip type tank bag on th TT and a magnetic on the GS.

I guess this is what fighter pilots mean by "watching your six".
As my Uncle Bilbo used to say, "It's a dangerous thing taking your motorcycle out of the garage. If you don't keep your wits about you there's no telling where you'll be swept off to."

I used a luggage padlock to connect the two zippers on my backpack together to prevent them from accidentally opening.  My pack had 2 zipper pulls on the same zipper.  No way to accidentally open when riding.

I have a tankbag.  Yesterday morning on the expressway to work, I decided to slouch behind my huge windscreen to keep dry.  As soon as I slouched, the cover on my tank bag flew straight up, about as high as the windscreen itself.  Turns out, I had forgotten to zip it closed.  And as long as I stayed upright, the wind hit it right and it stayed shut; but as soon as my body changed position, up it went.

Luckily I was able to get it zipped with my left hand before my wallet or anything flew out.  But it was sure a surprise!

i use a twist tie for longer trips for the  backpack to hold the zippers together. headed up to my sisters place one eventing w/ my backpack on, i usally reach back a few times to check that everythings normal. about 20 min out i feel a weird draft on my back nd reach to find my pack 1/2 way open. after pulling over i find i only lost my favorite hat. man coulda been worse, i dunno how long it was open. my undies might of been flyiin from someones antenna had it gone longer.

ALso, in most states, if somthing falls off the back of your vehicle its ticketable, if it damages somones property, Your liable for the repairs.  Milk crates are ugly but work very well.  besides, its a kick to out corner a "Super bike" rider on a POS looking twin with a milk creates straped to the back.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

Cal Price

Yup, Old Bill can nick you here if anything falls off any vehicle "unsafe Load", normally reserved for trucks but an offence with any vehicle.
