yes to 1 fast to 2, you ride a gs500 you have to be fast.
Experience enables you to recognise a mistake when you make it again

You've got to talk to the wife about letting you race. You could do pretty good judging by the competition this year. :lol:
Hope you can make it to Infineon Raceway on May 30th for the next AFM race. We should have a bunch of GS riders :cheers:

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Just got an annoying mystery oil leak. Nothing serious.

I bought a PVM font wheel from James Randolph last race.
It's lighter and is a 16.5 rim. The new front tire is a 125-80.
HUGE DIFFERENCE :o
Over a rough patch where the 120-60/17 tire would force the suspension to do all the work. The new tire absorbs more bumps, has more grip because of bigger contact patch. Knocked 2 seconds off my lap times

I'm building another motor for my 89 backup bike for more power.
I took the bike I rode with you on and threw some # plates on it.
I'm using it as a backup bike. At the moment it has a stock motor with a jet kit, pipe and advancer. I'll let you use it to take the racers school  ;)
Then you won't need to worry about setting up your bike for the track.
You can pick up another cheap GS and make that a race bike later.
All you need is the safety gear-- full leathers, back protector, boots, helmet and gloves.

You should check out the GS500 on this forum.  It's in Minnesota but it seems like a deal at $1100/offer, 51hp and full SV bodywork.

Just curious, Bob, what classes would a mostly stock GS500 be competitive in, if any, in AFM?

The classes you can run the GS in, is 500 twins and the 450 classes (superbike and production). You could do fairly good in 500 twins if you can ride well. 450 production would be tougher. And 450 superbike would be the hardest. The top guy in 450 superbike is putting out around 85hp :o
Year before last I managed a second place in 450 superbike with a monstrous holeshot at the start. Finally got picked off by lap 4. Then dropped to 3rd because of lapped traffic. But the bike was running strong, so I managed to get back up to 2nd. Last year everybody raised their game.
This year I'm just doing 500 twins. Maybe I'll play with them later in the season.
