I plan on eventually modding my 04 Gs. Here is what I want, VnH full system, K and N airbox replacement filter, and a rejet. Which kit would be appropriate for this combo, Dynojet stage 3? Any others?

Also, will these mods actually be felt during riding, or will the gains just be in my mind?

a little from colum a, and a little from colum b
People who think that money is there biggest problem,
need to realize that there are some big frikin problems out there.

Those mods will make a significant difference in riding. Best bet with jetting is not to mess with a dynojet kit. Do some searching here, or take a look in the FAQ section and read as much as you can on jetting it yourself just buying the jets and parts.

As far as bang for the buck, I'd go ahead and get K&N pods/lunchbox rather than the replacement filter. You'll get more power and the filter is much cheaper too. Anyway, depending on the filter/exhaust combo you go with you'll want to jet accordingly so search around, there is a LOT of info on jetting.

my say on this,
because i was in the same position you were in about 2 weeks ago

i had a stock 04 F
then i bought a wileyco carbon fiber can from srinath here

everything went great with that
great sound
little bit more power at 5K rpm
just great

then i decided to buy a K&N filter
(part # SU5589)
and install it on my own

you know,
i'd like to blame it on the weather
because the same weekend i put that filter in
the weather began to drop DRASTICALLY

so lo and behold,
i noticed problems here and there with the bike

at first,
the power seemed just about the same as with the stock filter

but then
the bike died about 3 times on the road in the same day
and then the following thursday it started,
but died after 10 minutes of warmup!

i was told by members here that the bike is running extremely lean
and that makes sense
and a rejet is probably what the doctor ordered

it seriously a toss up for me
it could have been the filter
or it could have been the weather
(because it was -5 degrees Celsius this morning and while i was riding,
i noticed the engine was struggling in first gear above 5K rpm)

who knows?
maybe if it was the middle of summer,
my bike would be running smoothly

you know who's a good person to talk to about modding an F?
ask airbrush

hope i was some help

cheers,
joel
