Hello there,

After searching the archives, I haven't quite been able to find all the info I'll need to help a friend go through some GS500E forks next weekend. It appears the 12 point internal wrenching bit in the damper rod is 24mm, judging from one user's use of a 15/16" headed bolt to secure it, but some Suzukis use 27mm. Is 24mm in fact the distance across the flats of the 12 point in the damper rod? I was planning on welding up a damper rod tool and just need to know which size nut to weld onto the shaft.

The bolt securing the damper rod to the lower fork slider... is it a 6, 8, or 10 mm hex? Or something else?

Thanks for any info...

24 mm is fine for the damper rod tool. Dunno about the lower bolt, though.

8mm allen.  I used a 5/16" allen which also worked.

Cheers,
Ed.
