Fuel starvation?

Hi all
I recently posted "leaking tank."

I noticed that it was leaking because the bike was running bad ,, i found water leaking from the tank into the air filter.

Tank now cleaned & fixed, Carbs cleaned, new plugs, new air filter.

Now my bike has a flat spot during the first bit of throttle and sounds throaty but the picks up in a second to normal acceleration. This is annoying as it shows there is something wrong.

ALSO the worst thing is that twice over the past two days whilst cruising my bike splutters to an almost standstill from say 70mph (seems like i,m going onto reserve, but i'm not). When i'm just getting ready to stop and cry! ..it picks up again to normal (throaty operation).

when this "starvation" occurs i immediately switch my tap to Prime but this seems to have no effect.

The only thing I can think of is float level. Inadequate float level will affect both the off-idle abruptness and the hesitation at freeway speeds.

Also, maybe the pilot jets. Do you already have the size 40 non-bleeder type pilot jets? And, 125 mains.

You're describing some of the same problems that others have associated to valves being out of spec.  Check the floats first as that can be done fairly easily- if all looks good, it maybe time to check the valves.
