Oil Leak quest

I was trying to localize an annoying oil leak on my SR500 and someone told me this tip:

Wash the engine to remove all the accumulated oil and dirt. Let the engine  completely dry (a leaf blower gets the water out of all those nooks and crannies) then spray down the suspected areas with some aerosol foot powder.

Once you take a short ride you can see exactly where the oil begins to seep out and discolor the powder.

With my situation I let the bike idle for a while expecting to see the leak but it never showed. I then rode around the block a couple of times checking the spots but it still wasn't leaking. Turns out it didn't start leaking until I got the revs up.

Mine leak turned out to be the head gasket.

Dana out.

I, myself, have a similair leak, still yet to find.  I like your idea with foot powder, much better than running engine fluid dye and getting out the black light.  I cannot determine if my leak is the head gasket, valve cover, or cam cover gasket leaking.
