Well like the topic says anyone wear Roof helmets? My mom is going on a trip to France in a few weeks and I told her to look if they have Roof helmets for cheap (since they are made in France). I was just wondering how is their sizing comparable to US-sold helmets? I checked their website but it was being worked on, and most online dealers just have the sizes listed, not head dimensions. Hopefully someone out there can help me (possibly some of our European members)

As far as I know they are the same but I will e-mail a colleague in Calais and ask if he would mind finding out and let me know. If he does I will pass on. (unless we get an answer from France) You could try www.gs500.fr.st/

Trick Tape sold them for a while so there was lots of talk on Cycleforums about them.  I bet a search would find some good hits.  People were happy with them and they do look cool IMO :)

I have a Roof Boxer and the fit is very spherical, if you know what I mean. Also the Boxer padding is not as soft and tight on the head, i.e. less of the sponge and more of the polystyrene type. On average, I would say the Boxers have a bigger fit around the cranium area, but tightish around the chin and jaw sections compared to conventional helmets.
The Diversions on the other hand are very tight and snug. These are quality helmets and are very comfortable.

Thanks for the help guys. I found a sizing chart on the 'net and with scar_ace's description I think I have a prett good idea what to expect.

scar_ace are u satisfied with your Boxer helmet? I like the look and features of that helmet a lot, but then the Diversion helmet seems to have a lot more safety features. So right now its a toss up b/w the two.

I spoke to my French "opposite number" on the other side of the water earlier today, he is a non biker but as far as I can work it out it's pretty much the same as here, circumference of head in mil etc, ie...

56 and less  = small  = petit
57/58               M         Moyen
59/60                L         Grande
61/62                XL        XG
63/64                XXL      XXG

If your head is any bigger you should be able to work out the rest! he will go into a local bike dealership in Calais and let me know if anything is different.
Cheers.

Yeh in my opinion, they boxers are the best summer helmet available. The downside is that you cannot buy antifog/scratch visors for them and so if you have the chin piece down and the visor fully down, it fogs up quite easily. The buttons on the chin piece may rattle slightly at speeds when the chin piece isn't down, but then again at those speeds you will probably have the chin down anyway. Otherwise, it's a top class helmet with a space age celestial design.  :thumb:
