Well my friend michael here in kingston just bought a TL1000S. FREAKING AWESOME!!! billet chrome wheels (a grand a peice), chrome frame, swing arm, twin yoshi chrome pipes, carbon fiber everywhere, gel seat, sounds awesome! and get this.. bought the bike for $4800.00 what a deal.

Just goes to show that all these bolt-on, aftermarket doodads don't do a shittin' for resale value.

Gisser

Oops, I meant to say don't do much for resale value.

:nono:   Now, now...

Any chance of us getting a peek at the TL?  I am a fan of the TLS and would love to be on one next year...

Too bad all that chrome adds a lot of wieght. The TLS & TLR do not have much of a resale value, great for the buyer though. Especially since they are both great bikes. Not too fond of the TLS, I prefer my women naked not my bikes.

I like the TLs over the TLr because the fuel mapping is better on the s version.  The bike has some funny handling characteristics but other than that it seems like a good bike with a bulletproof motor.

The TL is a great bike naked or clothed, but I prefer the Sv1000ks by far.

Note that the TLS has half as many injectors as the TLR

And different gearing and a completely different grind to the cams.

One of my *someday* projects is to build a hybrid TL R/S with the motor and frame of a TLR, blacked out and all the plumbing hidden, with just the fairing from an S.

The TLR is NOT just a faired verion of the TLS (like the SV & SVS). There are a lot of differences in them.....forks, shock, frame, swingarm, FI, front brakes, tank & plastics, seat, rear sets, clutch control, and the list goes on. Well, at least the wheels are the same.

Actually it is the rotary damper for the rear shock. Some idiot thought that this was a superior design. Instead of the common remote reservoir, the damper uses a rotating devise instead of a linear design. After prolonged aggressive riding the damper will over heat and can start to fail. I have never noticed any problems on the street. Track riding is totally different. There are some modifications that can be done to the damper internally but the best is to replace it with a Penske, but at over $1000, I have learned to deal with it. There are others at lower prices but not really as good.

yeah, ill post some pics as soon as possible

rotory shocks aren't any better or worse than regular piston and shaft types. And AFAIK, the one they put on the TL wasn't any worse than any other OEM one. Most cheapo stock shocks will fade and go flat after a while.
The problem was that the aftermarket had little experiance with them and very little incentive to to invest in developing better rotory dampers or even parts for them all for one family of bikes.
