Carbs Problem???

Well their a little problem with my bike,   If i adjust the idle screw to anywere close to 1500rpms, the bike idles fine untill it warms up, then the rpms will say around 3000rpms unless i use the clutch to pull the rpms down,  then it will stay at like 1500rpms, but i as soon as i touch the throttle it stays at 3000rpms.

Right now i have the idle sat at about 1000 and play with the choke to get it running when its cold.  It dosent rev up to 3000 with the idle set  lower than 1500

I was thinking theirs a problem in the carbs somwhere, so i was thinking of getting a carb rebulid kit( they offer those dont they), and maybe a jet kit and performance air filter to go along with my header and pipe i have...

For those that have a jet kit and full exhaust system,  what kind of kick in the pants did you notice after it was installed?

The header and pipe are the only mods on the bike right now.

Let me know what you think the problem might be,  and on the rebuild, jet kit , air filter idea.

You should adjust idle to 1200 RPM when hot. That'll mean that it will kill itself cold without choke.

The problem with RPM staying high sounds like false air being sucked in through the manifolds. To find out if that's the case, spray the manifolds with a little WD-40 or brake cleaner when idling. If RPM change, the manifolds are not tight. tighten the hose clamps and flange screws or exchange Manifolds if they themselves are not tight (microcracks).

yeah, what MarkusN said, regarding wd-40 use little, that stuff is flammable. but the practice works :thumb:
