Newb question - What does it mean to sync the carborateurs? I just got done doing 7500 mile service (oil change, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs)... but I'm not sure if I should attempt to sync the carbs myself or take it to the shop.

When syncronizing the carbs, you are adusting them to pull the same vacuum so the same volume of fuel is used in each cylinder. You really need a vacuum gauge to adjust them. I know some people have made their own.
Common sense in not very common.
