clutch and fueling (?) problems!

hey guys i finally started taking the gs out of the garage after the winter (!) and its got a few problems.  i put some new gas mixed with sta-bil ( it claims to clean carbs and injectors) in and it started up but only if i hit the starter with the throttle open.  the bike wont stay running with the choke open.  the rpms would steadily drop until it stalls.
i had the throttle open for maybe 15 min (long enough for the engine to get warmed up) and it still wont run without holding onto the throttle.
another problem is my clutch.  the lever has almost no resistance.  i think either the plates are stuck and i cant disengage or the cable snapped and i cant disengage.  i started the bike in neutral, got the rpms up (so it wont stall) held the clutch in, clicked in first with the clutch still in and the bike lurched and died.  i had the clutch in so this shouldnt have happened.  i also started the bike in first with the clutch in and it lurched and died.
any help would be much appreciated.  thank you.
Don't mind me I'm just new.

The first problem probably are gummed up idle (and possibly choke) jets. A good cleaning of the carbs should take care of that. Ultrasound cleaning will probably work better than fuel additives.

The second... not sure. Sticking clutch is a pretty normal phenomenon after  the bike has been sitting for a while, but that doesn't come with a light clutch lever.

Open the small inset cover (two Phillips screws) in the sprocket cover on the left  of the crankcase and watch the mechanism in there when you operate the clutch lever; you should see a rotary movement. If not, your clutch cable is broken.

If it's just a sticking clutch, try to break it loose by pushing the bike in 1st with the clutch pulled (or have it pushed while you sit on it, provides more friction on the rear wheel.)
