Well hello there....I just got my new GS500F as well.  I haven't really received it yet...getting it in about 3 days..but I have heard good things about it being easy to handle and good for beginners.  So what color is yours?....mine is devil BLUE!

The 2004 is pretty much the same, just more stuff to scratch if you go down. (Knock Knock) It should handle nicely, and produce enough power to satisfy. (at least for awhile) Top speed... I have barely hit 110. (downhill) Some will say more. Most will agree with a bit over 100 can be achieved on most strait highways. I don't recomend you go that fast often though. It's dangerous  :nono: Well, unless your the Antibody.

756 miles on my GS500F and I love it.  Absolute blast to ride around town, ample power for any situation.  Easily cruises at 80+mph interstate speeds. Relatively comfortable seat, for stock.  I've only begun to need to start shifting around in the seat after a 150 mile afternoon.   Insurance isn't too bad. Gas is pretty good at about 55mpg.

The fairing looks great, IMHO, and it's been mistaken by just about everyone I know for *much* more of a bike than it is.  Can't tell you how many "nice crotch rocket!" comments I've gotten, if that's important to you.

Top speed?  Well, I got brave on an empty, dry, deserted stretch of interstate one afternoon and decided to stretch things out a bit.  Even with my big 6' 280lb butt in the seat it had no trouble getting to 105 (which, according to my GPS, is really more like 90mph).  That's about as fast as I really cared to go, so I quickly slowed back down to the usual 70.  But it felt like there might be another 10-15mph in there if I'd really wrung it out.  How much faster do you need to go?  :)
Blue 2005 Suzuki M50.  I used to have a GS500F.

got mine a month ago and love it.  Haven't had much time to ride it though so I'm just comin' up on 300 miles.  Met the Good_guy today and it was great meeting someone off this forum! :)   Got some nice tips.  He said it felt more powerful than his 2001.  All I know is the pipe is bigger...and it's fun to ride.  Yellow power!!!

I got mine about 3 weeks ago and already ridden more than 1600 km :-) handles very nicely and the engine is quite nice as well. It has more than enough power for most situations you will encounter, and you can actually match several better bikes, as long as the other driver isn't particularly good at shifting ;-)

Mine is black and I love the colour and design (I definitely recommend black, though the other colors are very nice as well). Haven't really had any problems with it expect for it not starting one morning :-S, but it might had something to do with the cold the previous night. But the bike is supposed to have a very good and robust engine. Every remark and comment I've read on the net about the GS500F and GS500 is basically the same, handles nicely, easy to ride and joyful!!

Haven't ridden the old one, so I'm not sure if this one is more powerful, but it is likely that Suzuki have made modifications in some areas, for better or for worse ;-)

My bike is getting it's initial service today, after that I can push the engine a little more. I'll get back to you guys with the results! Just hope the weather improves..... :-(

Got mine in March, great bike, handles good, top speed ( not sure), but i've had mine to 125 (speedo indicated) twice. i ride mine 55 miles one way to work, about 40 of that is interstate and it does fine. the fairing helps cut a lot of the wind down also. Looks great and if you are getting one, you'll be satisfied.

The engine is the same. The only difference is an added oil cooler, and fairing. Am I missing anything?

I have a '95 500E, and though I also have a BMW F650, I still ***LOVE*** to ride this bike around.  I just got it going again after a long hiatus and I gotta say,  the GS500 line is kick-ass.
