Well after being limited to 5k rpm for the last 100km's my bike mechanic said I could give my bike full throttle.... and doesnt that make a difference! Holy smoke! I mean it was pretty fast before but NOW its a whole new ball game. And it sounds alot better too! God knows how fast Pantablos CBR is then.... :o
Just wanting som reassurance that 10k rpm isnt going to kill it!

that's what the engine's made to do, why not take full advantage of it?  personally i ride almsot every gear up the whole way, because to me that's a lot of the fun of having a bike.  so do what you want with it, just watch out for that red line.

when I used to hang with bandit1200's in the canyons I rode my gs continuously (it seemed) around 11k for hours...okay, not HOURS but a long time.

its fine for the bike.

I was recently reading an article in the July Cycle World in which they were talking about the new BMW sportbike.  They mentioned the motor having a 11,000 redline, but during testing it had been spun up to 20,000 for a full hour with no malfunction...just for reference sakes.

Definitely riding over 5k will make a difference but I don't know that I'd call the GS500 'fast'.  Even full throttle isn't impressive to me at those RPMS.

I guess its all a matter of perspective aslam. I used to own an old Nissan thing that had 1.5litres of oil burning power. Ran like a 40 a day smoker and couldnt drive outta sight on a dark night so going from 0 - 60 in anything under 2 minutes is fast. :thumb: [/list]
