New bike...stalling after idling for a few seconds....Help?

Just bought a new 2004 GS500F, it's my first bike, so I'm still a little lost mechcanically and was hoping some of you might have some suggestions for me to resolve the following scenario.

The bike has 340 miles...the last two times I've taken it out it starts up fine, runs fine for about 25-30 minutes and then while stopped at a stoplight the idle RPMs slowly (over about 10-15 seconds) drop from 1200-1500 to about 1000 and then the bike stalls.  To restart the bike I have to goose the throttle a little bit while pressing the starter button.  It'll continue to do that until I get home.  Next time I took the bike out it was the same thing...fine for about 30 minutes, then this behavior.

I've been able to work around it by giving it a little gas with the clutch held in, but that's not very safe and I'd rather not have to shift into neutral while stopped.  Gas isn't a problem.  Thought it was at first, filled the tank and it still happens with a full tank.  It also runs fine once it is in motion.  Seem to be getting full power in all gears.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?  I'd like to check it out myself if I think I'm able.  I have to take it in to the dealer for the 600-mile maintenance pretty soon, but I'd like to resolve this before then if possible.

I appreciate it!

In my experience, this has happened when the choke has been on (even slightly) after the engine is nice and warm.  To me this says that the air/fuel mixture is too rich.

Choke lever: If you're sure that the choke lever has been pushed all the way forward, you could double-check that the choke is being fully released using an idea from this post.

Air Filter: Inspect the air filter.  It shouldn't have gotten dirty at all in <400 miles, but maybe there's an obstruction?  (The filter is under your seat, in front of the battery.)

Jetting or float level: The jetting shouldn't be goofed up with such low miles either.  (Everything is still stock, right?)  But you may want to check the float height as shown on my Float Height Check page.  It might be a little too high.

I did check the air filter (sort of), peeking under the gas tank though with the seat off and it looks new (as it should) though I could only see about half of it without releasing the gas tank.

The choke seems like the most likely scenario.  I did check to make sure the lever was pushed all the way back.  I'm not sure I'm comfortable checking out the choke cable just yet, but I will double check that the choke lever is not getting stuck and being left partly engaged after being warmed up.  I am a newb after all.

Thanks for the help.

Take it to dealer... this is definetely a defect... BTW tried fiddling a little with the idle screw... If choke is closing all the way, idle screw is next.
Cool.
