OK.. so last night I take the bike out for a spin before some thunderstorms get here.  On my way back a two lane country road I noticed something move behind the gaurd rail about 30 or 40 yards ahead.  In about the next second it flaps its wings and jumps over the gaurd rail about 4 feet in the air, and I relize its a Turkey.  :o

I've seen plenty of wild turkeys before (no i wasn't drinking) but this thing was a huge full size tom turkey.  I was just about ready to take a turkey in the chest when it flaps a couple more times which puts it about 8 feet in the air right in the middle of my lane.  Thats when I zipped right underneath it!  From the time it took off to the time I went under it I barely had time to duck.  It was well over my head but seemed close enough to me.

I learned a couple things 1.) Thank goodness even large turkeys can be suprisingly mobile, and 2.) Srinaths bars are great for ducking under giant game birds.  ;)  :thumb:

Oh well, just had to document that one.  I remember someone posted they almost hit a buzzard once but don't remeber any turkey stories.  Anybody else ever hit a symbol of a natoinal holiday? Pumkins? Easter Bunny? Santa?

The GS500 is the safest bike on the planet, it can just barely kill you.

i commute through a city park here in pgh called schenely park.  one day last summer i rounded the corner into the park  and there was a Tom just standing in the middle of the road.  I was doing about 40 and i just swung around to the outside of him.

JakeD-getting your nipple pierced is not crazy. Killing a drifter to get an errection? Now that's crazy!

I had a turkey strut across the road in front of my about a week ago.  There has been an explosion in the turkey population around here.  Its getting as bad as the deer.
