I just purchased a gs500f and am seeking thoughts on quality riding gear.   I haven't ridden in 15 years  :) so I need all new apparel.

Here is what I am thinking so far:

Fieldsheer zero condition jacket
Fieldsheer highland pant
Fieldsheer race fury glove
Sidi strada evo air boot
Shoei rf1000 helmet

Any comments or alternative suggestions welcome...thanks.

if it all fits comfortably, feels good, you like it and it is affordable then its all good. Especially with the helmet you need to make sure it fits properly (should feel like its one size too small at first, then it'll break in).  Jacket and pants should fit so that you can grab the armor/protection and it wont move when you shake it violently. Last thing you want is to have it move around while you slide down the road.

I am looking at buying those same boots. I have the SIDI champion tepor boots and love them-too warm with full fairing in the summer heat.

I have those Highland Pants from fieldsheer.....here are my thoughts on them.

Good.
Very warm!
They fit me well as overpants.  I think they are designed that way since they have zippers almost up to mid thigh.

Armor

Bad.
Very Warm!
Liner is not removeable, so if it is hot, they are hot!
Cordura on top of knee armor is very abrasive, and will buff the wax off your tank and then start to wear on your paint.
The legs arent quite wide enough at the bottom to go over my boots, so I have to tuck them in to my boots.  I figured for a overpant they would be wider?
Since the zippers go up past the armor, they kinda hang up near the knee (have to make sure leg is dead straight before you zip them up), they close and are sturdy (not going to break), but it is just a minor annoyance sometimes when you put them on.

That is about all I can think about right now.

thanks for the input so far.

Maybe I'll switch the pant to a all leather pant  they have. they have a leather sport air pant .

What-ever jacket you chose, please make sure it has CE aproved armor in it. This is a Euro standard, but it's also the only one in existance. It's like the DOT or SNELL for the helmet. Thin foam in the back does very little, try to find a good back protector.
So in a jacket you need, shoulder and elbo protection, back protection, and collar-bone protection. It would be nice to have full back and kidney protection along with rib protection.
In the pants you need hip, side of quads, knee, and shin protection
Helmet SNELL, because DOT is a joke (unless you realy like open face helmets)

I'm a girl, and I have mesh riding pants (Joe Rocket Phoenix). I noticed the protection on my pants is different than my boyfriend's (he has Alpinestars Air-Flo) mesh riding pants. In addition to protection on the shins, knees and hips, I have protection on the backside (basically from one hip, across the back to the other hip) and this huge area covering my tummy down to the crotch, into the upper thigh area, a large padded circle so to speak. My boyfriend jokes that this is "uterus protection".
