just curious to see if anyone has tried any of the bikemaster clubman bars on their gs? i'm looking into a set for the bike, but wanted to make sure the clearance and everything worked, it would be easier than finding a set of clipons to fit, but at the same time, the clipons can swing out to make sure they fit,

I considered those to but the drop and overall size of the bars ultimatley turned me off. Get a set of Sinrath's bars or sm bars. More modern , and stronger.

I have a set that are turned upside down on mine.  They seem to fit fine.  It gives roughly the same postion as stock.  The only reason I did this is the original ones were bent from the previous owner and I got a set of clubmans for free from a friend who had them laying around.  I would not buy them myself.  They seem weak.  I think I can feel them flex under heavy braking when messing around and squeezing with the knees.

when turned right side up they mimick clip ons but you cant turn them far enough for proper hand position before they hit the speedo/tach cluster. This leaves them pointing too far down and leaving you in a really awkward position. I've seen several that have done it and it didnt look comfortable at all-I mean even less comfortable than clip ons might be.

i had these on my bike, and got a set of srinath's bars.  all i can say is that the srinath bars are leaps and bounds better than these things...
They couldn't keep Death out, but while she was in she had to act like a lady.

yeah, i'm gonna see if i can find any clipons that will fit first, which is a long shot, but it'd be nice to have them, if not i'll probably go for the srinath bars, if it was my bike it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but definately don't wanna send my girlfriend out and have the bar snap on her

I tried the Flanders brand clubman's and couldn't hardly reach the bars.  i am using a wide center 30 degree pullback Flanders drag bar now.  Its very good quality and it does put more of your weight forward (you mentioned it in another post I think).  I bought it after my lowside last April.  I have some LP bar ends (non-weighted) and I don't really notice any vibes in the bars (the foot pegs are another story ;)).

If I can ever get my finances sorted (college student) I will have myself a Speed 4  .  Have you had any of the known issues?  like is the clutch cable routing really that bad or does the chain guides on the swing arm really go away that fast?  Many times people only talk about the bads and don't really say "wow my bike has been awesome for the last XXXX miles"

the clutch cable did wear a little, i took i tback and they fixed it, and i think it started to wear a little, so i rerouted it and it was fine, but at 17k miles i figured i could use a new clutch cable, so i put it back and i'm hoping for it to wear through again, but it hasn't started, but either way, a bike with a few small problems like that is key to getting new parts replaced under warranty :thumb:

that problem with the chain wearing your heard about was probably me complaining, i think i've complained about that most over on tt600.org, more than anyone else, i've heard a few people say they have it, but no one really seemed to as bad, but either way, i took it back and got new bigger sprockets, and a new chain under warranty, and it slowed it down drastically, and hey, like i said, 13k i was about ready for a new chain with all the time i spend in the rain, so it saved me a little over $100,

but yeah, just stupid problems, it is a great bike,

I am working on making some pseudo clip on's... The kind that GRU has. I'll put up a pic when done.
Cool.
