Ok i think most of us would agree that the GS looks about 2x's better without the stock mirrors. Is there any OTHER option besides bar ends that would give you some kind of decent rear view that doesn't look like crap? Perhaps the SV650 mirrors??? If this is a repost, please send me to the original so i can get rid of the UGLY AS F*** MIRRORS! Thanks!!!

people havent talked about the sv mirrors in a long time. Used to be a common mod. The sv650 mirrors DO look better than the stock ones and are a direct replacement. They're round for those that haven't seen them.

Other options are bar end mirros like napoleons.

or the CRG mirrors:

NOT CHEAP at $70/each. get them here:

You can also mount up bicycle mirrors but my personal experience is that they dont hold up to the hours of vibrations on the bike...

the mounts should just be 10mm, but before you go out and spend money on new mirrors, grab a 10mm bolt and try to screw it in the base, of a 10mm nut and screw it on the mirror just to make sure, and after that, any mirrors you can find off of ebay or the bike dealership with the standard 10mm mount will fit, i broke one off my triumph, and replaced them with a stock set of buell mirrors, and they work fine....

The aftermarket has responded  with a number of cool-looking mirrors.  Chaparral's street catalog that appeared in my mailbox last week had several cool models, including the trendy faux carbon fiber finish.

sv650 mirrors on Anne's bike-first picture, first page of wall of fame. John may be the admin but this site was John and Anne's page...

bicycle mirror by third eye (installs into end of handlebar in place of bar end weight).

I use a mountainbike mirror currently(Catseye) on my 500, I tried several different mirrors on my GS450(before giving it to my gf) trying to find the right one for me.  On the 500, the Catseye(with some modifications) has worked great on trips over 250 miles.  It is better with vibration at low rpm than any mirror I've used, and at least as good at true running speed.

I picked up the SV650 mirrors a couple of months ago after going through the stock and a pair of after market mirrors.  These new ones are the best....great visability and they don't vibrate at all.  I found them for sale on the svrider web site.

hope it mounts up fine in my bar.. looks like there was some damage to my bar end (both sides; bent bolts and washers)  from previous owners..

If you're not really into functionality, but are into looking super cool, you can make some bar end mirrors out of aluminum "L" strip from Home Depot and stick-on blind spot mirrors from your FLAPS.  Cheap too... 6 or 7 bucks.

Slick!  Actually, they work ok, but objects in mirror are MUCH closer than they appear.

Problem w/ some of the bicycle mirrors, as Pablo pointed out, is that they can be kind of flimsy and vibrate out of positon.
