Been away for what seems to be forever. While we were away on the west coast we sold our home in Mass and bought a new one in a development in Phoenix to be completed in January.

The floorplan: http://www.courtlandhomes.com/ppicture.cfm?IDnum=00604007
The stuff inside: http://www.courtlandhomes.com/nhg2dtbyids.cfm?IDnum=00604007&IDLot=367
The home is located in So. Phoenix about 20 minutes from college and 10 from downtown Phoenix. Baseline and 31st ave.  If you want to see what this new community sees for its future this is an interesting read: ftp://www.ci.phoenix.az.us/pub/PLANNING/vpbrolv.pdf

Yep. We are chucking it all and starting over from scratch.  GStwin will continue uninterupted.

Exterior A looks nice...I'm sure you'll love it.

Was hoping to hook up with you when you were in L.A. but I guess you were busy with the house stuff in Phx. :thumb:

Looks awsome to me.  I tend to move every few years too.  Remember, if you don't unpack it after being there for a year, don't take it with you when you leave.  :P  :)

If your interested in guys making left turns, you will have this a few blocks away. :)  Cool...

Hope all goes smooth.  Good luck with everything.

Because the city has to cut in all the roads & stuff.  The roads are laid out, the block walls are up, and the utilities (at least electric and phone/cable are laid but the finished road is not there.  They won't build till the city completes the road -then the houses will spring up.  That's why the long wait.

Refridgerator box.  Actually we will have to *gasp* rent an apartment in Mesa.

Quotedo you already have a job out there?

We don't need no stinking job out there.  I'm going to school.  Anne will find work without much trouble.

Construction always takes long...and they'll likely go over their estimate from some setback or another. Hell, I just finished an interior remodel that took that long and we had no exterior work.

John-be careful not to sign off the completion of the work (probably something to do with your post completion inspection) until they are really done. Once you sign it off and take possession they are not nearly as motivated to finish all the little details that sometimes gets forgotten.

Yep.  It's gonna be a culture shock.  I am used to acre parcels, not 5000sq ft.  Gotta get used to the grid.

Oh jeeze you are from the sticks... I thought you were "city people" OK that's a smaller shock. The bigger houses with over acre parcels are getting very very hard to get...

Looks awesome.  Question about the floor plan:  Can you opt to have no living room, with a 4 car garage instead?  You can never have too much garage space :P

question, on your yard, will you have to  :? rake it, or mow it? , btw, beware of scorpions, and ants, (especially), and the occasional roof rat, and the "killer bees", but other than that, cool place to call home

Nice house... congrats!!  :thumb:

I'm sure you've already experienced the furnace effect in Phoenix, if so, give yourself a year and your blood will totally thin out, though it may seem like you'll die at first and wonder why you ever wanted to live in Phoenix in the first place. But 85 degrees becomes downright cold after a summer.  :o
