One question though:  After rejetting, I am experiencing some hiccups in 4th and 5th gear in the midrange.  Could this be fixed with the air mixture screws?  They are currently three turns out.

i have the same problem....when i hit 60 or higher the bike just loses power untill i twist the throttle more, then loses power again and i have to twist the throttle again....i played with the mix screw and the results are the same....i might go back to the stock main jets  :roll:

As far as I know, the mixture screws are really for idle adjustment.  There are many posts on rejetting so do a search.  With K&N replacement  filter you should put in 40 pilots, 125 mains and 1-2 shims under the needle (unless you're using a dynojet kit).

The stripes are painted on, and then I added some pinstriping decals from the auto store to clean out the lines.  The paint itself is Honda Auto Silver and Red that I bought from an auto paint dealer.  After rejetting, I now have 40 pilots, 127.5 mains, and two shims in the needle.  Can anyone else help with this problem Gru and I are having? :mrgreen:

Stock is good, although cheating on the EPA  mixture screw setting is better.  Leave the rest alone, I say.


The OP would be better off with stock mains and only 1 shim under the needle.  In this case, less is more.   :roll:

Man that is one sweet looking bike. Most people mod the heck out of their bike to make it stand out. Amazingly, you did an awesome job with a bug screen, paint, and minimal mods. I never thought a bug screen could look so good. The racing stripes really enhance the whole look. Without them the bike would look bland. Why can't more manufacturers come with color schemes like this?

Got mine finished today too. Couldn't decide if I should start a new thread but here it is so as not to clog up the board with "finished bike" threads.



Got the K&N pod and Factory jet installed. The windshield and seat were on it when I got it. No idea what kind they are. Still on the list are a new pipe of some kind and maybe some handlebars and bellypan. The fender will probably go too along with the signal stalks.

now if you guys flip the tail light upside down it will follow the body lines better. worked great on my 89.

I have no clue what kind of seat it is. It's really comfy though. :mrgreen:

I'm the 4th owner of this bike. The 2 guys before me added the seat and windshield.  Only 9000 miles on it though, not bad for a '99.

if you flip the tail light you will get in trouble from the cops because there will not be a license plate light

The texture of the leather seems a little different than mine.  (More shiny?  Maybe goggleman actually used some kind of treatment to take care of his....  :roll: )

i had this sorta problem and i fixed it by raising my needles one notch (i bought the jet kit). it first i lowered the needle but that made it worse. now i have it one from the top. k&n lunchbox, v&h, and i cant remember the numbers in the carbs besides 40 pilots.
going fast isnt the problem, its the crashing and burning that hurts
