Looking for GS500e Carbs Carburetor - Suzuki no make anymore?

While rebuilding my own and trying to undue some jetting that causes too many issues and poor gas mileage, I found some hairline fractures in the body, which may be why it runs way to rich and crappy (A Suzuki ex-tech thinks it might from CA's gasoline additives...)  And Suzuki for some reason does not make the left hand carburetor (carb) anymore the the right hand is on back-order indefinitely.

Keihin require a new cable system, which seems complicated.  HK aftermarkets require some way to run them together.  The stores tell they can't ship non-USA carbs to the USA.  And apparently the GS500F is a hydraulic cable that faces the same issues as creating the one for the Keihins.

I am fully open to all suggestions, and would deeply love to get my 89, mild cafe' racer build back on the road and under my butt, the Bay Area commute is eating away at my soul as I watch all the other cyclist drive by  :dunno_white:

Thanks.

Have you checked on eBay?

You can use GS500F carbs, but you'll need more than just the carbs to make them work. I think the intake boots, throttle cable & assembly, and choke cable as well? Or you could also go with Mikuni VM32's, but you'll need a 2-1 throttle cable (and maybe a throttle assembly) from and aftermarket supplier too. And then there's the whole jetting issue......

If nobody here has them, I'd check eBay.

I have a pair available from my '92.

Although if you follow your other thread you probably will find most folks don't think you need to change your carbs. But I won't hesitate to sell you mine. The hard parts are good, but you will need at least one rubber diaphragm (take from your old carbs), virtually all o-rings will need to be replaced and there is an issue with the vacuum ports on the covers so you'll want to recycle your old tops. And I think there are no pilot jets in these carbs. They are essentially a rebuildable core.

You want them, you can have them. Say... $40 + shipping?

Thank you for the info, I'm going to read the other post in just a minute, but here are some pictures I modified that show the part that the Suzuki Tech believes is causing the carbs to run too rich and therefore unridable really...

Also it really looks like the GSXR750 back in the same time-frame had 4 of the same carbs that the GS500e runs?  One of the pictures is a clearer shot from that carburetor of the same part

Thanks to ben2go and Old Skool_R for the carb picks.

And I am heavily considering taking mr72 on their offer (thanks again)

Not letting me add pictures, rats.

GSXR carbs ??? from when ???
OK katana carbs share parts and if someone had a gun to my head, I may be able to get a Kat left carb work in the GS'es left but not the right one - from memory.
Kat carbs make good parts donors, but I'll bet your carbs are just suffering from clutzy mech and PO's. And your main problem for now is electrical.
Cool.

Yeah, but the OP sure will learn a lot by doing everything wrong and starting over with different carbs! That's how I did it, and I learned a ton along the way. And that's how I would up with a spare set of carbs.

Sorry for the slow get-back, work and family and life has made it difficult to sit down and really formulate a complete answer on the other thread, been adding to it day by day trying to get to the get, paste, link and post portion of the post.

Had a line on eBay for a good looking set, that may have just been sitting that I was considering, then they got greedy, so whats the process to buy yours?  Hopefully without the same choke tube damage, sometimes the devil you know is better, then looking for a refund on eBay....

Tested or replaced a vast array of electrical - coils, igniter, rectifier, stator, signal generator, numerous plugs, and a battery

Starts fine and run well while cold, once it gets warm, and or you try and ride it and/or take off the choke it all goes to hell, have to keep revving it, lots of gas smell out the exhaust, and when it dies, the spark plugs especially on the left are blackened (which I have led to believe is too much fuel)  Also new gas lines, new fuel filters (now dual), de-rusted and sealed tank, new petcock, new connectors/boots around carbs to seal up possible air leaks.

Am being helped by classic bike rebuilder (specializes in Triumph-Ducati) has a friend trained at Suzuki years back in the era of my bike (no way to verify of course) to come in and take a look, a lot of head scratching and testing with meters, then pulled carbs, and began combing through them and found the cracks in the choke, and guess which one was worse, the left one...

...and got the dam pictures to work  :icon_mrgreen:  And thanks for all the advice so far, and thanks again for ben2go and Oldskool_r for making the pics accessible to use as examples (hopefully)

Thanks finally figured it out, and thanks for the welcome, I was on a thought overload blitz for that WHO, but I'm still part lunatic  :icon_twisted:, I've just been in so many crashes trying to whoop it up, and replaced so many parts in the process thinking that the streets are my racetrack, I finally had to chill out and do mostly what will keep me upright (like no more drafting off big rigs in the rain, yelling at arseholes while lane splitting, trying to drag my knee everywhere and give up stupid macho ideas about the "pu$$y strip" on the tires), hopefully after all this I might be to contribute and help someone down the line with their GS project...

And sadly like in other posts while trying to brief, and just end of being confusing and incurring some user wrath along the way (apologies)

BTW - my license place is  H E L L Y O N  like hellion, so people behind would understand what just went by, but I'm sure the DMV will let me keep it after I re-register it after a long Non-Operational time.

That part of the choke tube having a crack is not a problem. It sits inside the float assy fitting that's sealed with a O ring. No issues, especially since yours starts and warms up fine.
Sorry man, your carbs are easily fixable. I suspect your floats are high, and check and adjust that and it will be fine.
Do 1 change at a time, and don't do all the crap you're talking about - like - ever.
You can buy carbs if you like and keep em around but you likely will be able to use yours just fine.
