I always liked an old "big-block" that was loud on the intake side of the engine.

Flip the air cleaner bonnet over and let that pig QuadraJet suck wind!  :icon_mrgreen:

Here's a beautiful example of smog-belching, ozone-depleting Yankee ingenuity.  :thumb:

Can we mount it on the Cow???

And a couple extra support wheels too me thinks  :icon_lol:

Found out I'm hand sanding with 40 grit paper designed for timber not auto work  :technical:

And found another shade of pink on the right side that looks like filler as opposed to primer, guess she really has had a hard life! Getting there now though...

I'm still following along and that is some great work Pete!!!
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

peteGS

Haha cheers!! Better than new? Well, we'll see how it all shapes up in the end. Given the bulk of it will be gloss black I definitely need to be sure it's smooth and shaped properly otherwise every imperfection will get highlighted.

I tried a slightly different tactic yesterday and cut one of the 36 grit discs I have in half and started sanding with that. Huge difference! The paint and primer comes off so much quicker... could've saved hours with some better paper  :technical:

I'll see if I can get the sanding finished today ready for filler and putty, then it'll be time to put it aside and move onto some other stuff while I let the funds build up for the paint job.

Overall better than new yes. Your taking thenfactory oem standards and raising the bar quite a bit above that.

I gotta find better sandpaper... keep hitting my sanding tolerance without getting much further, using the wrong sort of paper sucks  :technical:

Nowhere near ready for filler and putty yet!

Ah that's such a classic video...  :icon_lol:

Got some 80 grit wet/dry paper yesterday, seems to be working much better  :thumb:

Got bad news about the tank yesterday... external rust under the paint and has been repaired before and has filler over rust as well... not repairable  :technical:

Now I gotta find another tank... I can buy a new one but they're $721 ready to paint which would guarantee I don't get the Kat done by my birthday next year  :technical:

That is very true! Probably 95% paint removed now, definitely should be on to the filler on the weekend, maybe even some putty. Would be nice if I can get a guide coat done as well but that could be pushing it.

Also, should be acquiring a brand new tank in January  :thumb:

Yes indeed! Well, probably closer to six weeks as pay day is mid month but either way something to get excited about  :thumb: :woohoo:

Excited about sandpaper, or finding another tank?
Just wondering.

BTW; I priced a tank for my DL1000 a few years back... $680 USD.
That's ridiculous.
Just saying.  :dunno_black:
