Doesn't look like the F4i paint scheme, and far too simple to be the F3 and prior schemes.

They were made from 1998(?) to 2000, when they were replaced by the F4i, which is essentially a fuel injected version of the F4 engine.

The F4 was a flagship Supersport for Honda until it was replaced by the F4i, and was the last flagship sportbike by Honda to use a banana seat. When the F4i was introduced in 2001 it gained a two tier seat and maintained it through 2002. It was replaced as the flagship sportbike in 2003 by the 600RR, but kept in the line up as the second tier sportbike, regaining the older (and more comfortable) banana seat.

I personally cannot walk around in public with loose pants around this particular model

Well it isn't an R6, since it has EXUP markings (which was first put into effect for the middleweight Yamahas on the '06 R6), so it must be an R1.

Durpdee Durr. It's a '98. I forgot it was made then. That's when it replaced the YZF1000R "Thunderace".

As Alpha said these replaced the YZF1000R "Thunderace". When the YZF-R1 sport bike was introduced. It set the standard for open class sport bikes for several years.
