however I have no idea what I'm doing past this point

On that basis the best advice anyone can give you is to involve someone who does!

Well we've all got to learn somewhere! I'm happy to work out how to pull the head off, but will definitely follow your advice and get a professional to sort out extracting the rest of the bolt.

Can my regular bike garage sort this, or is this some kind of specialist job?

Thanks for the help

Can my regular bike garage sort this,

At the risk of appearing sarcastic........I haven't got a clue as to what your regular bike garage are or indeed are not capable of  :dunno_black:

Why not ask them?

If you want to diy my advice would be to buy a manual, a used head in good condition and a gasket set from ebay. read up on what is involved and needed then check the valve clearances on the second head before swapping them over.

Of course, and no matter how you deal with this, you will have to get all 4 header bolts out first.......and that's going to be another story!!

I would like to know to as i may have to put the head when i sort out my sticky valve issue

I ride because it gives me the space to empty my mind off all that is bad and refill it with good.

Can you pull the head off without dropping the engine? I assumed there wasn't enough clearance, however I have no idea what I'm doing past this point
I've been told you can remove the head in situ. Probably have to remove all bits above it, and easier than removing the engine!
Can anyone confirm this as I'll probably be in the Same boat with my stuck shim buckets! 😥😤

I've never done it, but supposedly there's room.
