Ok, I *think* I'm with you now... so you're using the nuts as spacers... probably better off just using the washers or something. If the nuts are inside the frame, I don't see how you'd easily get a spanner in there to tighten them up properly?

both inside  and out.  the 2 inside the frame  are attached and  tightened. then  wheel put  onto frame, exterior   nuts installed.   and tightened. contemplating using the  washers. hadnt decided  on this yet.

nearing completion. i located  a sack of plate washers, from another project (frankenmower) and those fit  perfectly. well  have to ever so  slightly make the hole  in the bearing retainer MAYBE  A HALF mm larger.  so can focus fundraising efforts to finishing items. i.e. grips, bar ends perhaps, a speedometer, maybe even a drag chute lol. (toying with idea. mainly for looks) anyhoo will have pic up as soon  as i have bearing retainer enlarged a hair.

structurally ive got what i need (mostly) to complete  it. i am CLOSE lol. for the aesthetics my shopping list includes 1 grips,  2. bar ends 3. a drag chute lol (ejs idea if i can make it happen why not.it would go on the motormount above rear tire.  mainly for looks. or worstcase if a runaway. priced  a self contained 6ft chute. not bad at all. anyhoo back to realism. eventually want to get my hands on a SMALL propane cannister painted NOS blue. and plumbed for fuel usage. with the NOS emblem applied. and finally a speedometer (bicycle type).

there will be several. one  when mechanicaally complete, another if or when lol i go drag chute route lmao dammit ej, lmao he got that idea stuck in my head. prolly again when i paint engine shroud to match frame (blue shroud and silver case matching blue frame with silver stripe. and yes there will be a gstwin.com sticker prominently displayed. (already on frame each side main tube.) im wondering if stock gs bars would fit. if not these mtb bars will suffice. just have to relocate airhorn assy. anyhoo getting alot closer. next on todo list is to widen axle holes in frame to 12mm. time for elbow grease and a flat file. (wishing i had a grinder tbh.  lol)  THEN   mount wheel/axle assy. then  cut  and drill rear supports to fit.  and move front clamp bolts closer together.  then mount shortened mtb brake lever as a thumb throttle. wire  in existing kkkill switch. and im done. except for setting tire inflation and friction drive clamp. which is done immediately before testing.

heh been postwho...err constructively posting using a 99cent lg vn280  for close to 3 years. time to retire it. anyhoo i see the light at the end of the tunnel.. or for those whove had to unload a semi, i see the front of the trailer.

technically it already is (earlier pics) next step is to modify frame to accept large axle. break out hacksaw.
after which is to hook up driveline and modify rear supports. once this is done, other than aesthetics its ready to test.

I got bolts installed. When cinched tight it puts a significant side load on bearings. So I backed it off a half turn. May safety wire it to play it safe.

Nearly done. Just have to shorten and drill the rear supports. One of which is shown.

The rest of the axle parts arrived today. 8" brass rod going to try it and see. It was made i believe for a Chinese scooter (the gy6 types) so probably will be swapped tomorrow. And see how it fits. May try it tonight. Next step is to shorten and drill rat supports. There are 2 of them. One is pictured being used as a defacto prop rod to brace engine.

Structurally the cow is finished. Just have to hook up brake line, throttle, and kill switch.
Will test ride tomorrow.
