So, Roxy, my 2007 GS500f broke last fall.

the bolts connecting the gear to the bowl full of magnets in the starter clutch assembly sheared off. So while I was waiting for replacement parts to arrive I got this crazy idea to turn her into a cafe racer.

I'm almost done, all that's left is the swap the muffler, lower the passenger pegs and re-paint the tank.

Things I did to her:

  • Removed all fairings
  • New headlight
  • New front turn signals
  • New clipon bars
  • Headed grips
  • Handlebar mirros
  • K&N lunchbox filter
  • Removed pair system and plugged holes
  • Chopped off the tail
  • Installed new seat and manufactured a bracket for it (attached to the seat itself)
  • Taillight with integrated signals and welded a bracket for it
  • New side-mount licence plate mount with lights
  • New spark plugs
  • A bunch of new gaskets
  • New tiny lithium battery
  • Custom manufactured bracket for the battery and the electronics that were relocated from the sides of the bike to under the seat
  • A whole bunch of wiring
  • New oil
  • oh, and I fixed the starter clutch assembly

Cool to see some creativity but looks like it needs somemore love.  Anything else you going to do to it?

That looks like fun!  :thumb:

Stompgrip will rip the crap out of your pants. though. That stuff is sharp. I prefer TechSpec, but it only comes in black. It grips really well and won't mess up your gear.

I'm got a bit more left to do.

  • Put on the new muffler I just got
  • Repaint the tank, probably going with black (remove grips)
  • Remove the un-needed tabs on the frame and touch up the paint on the frame
  • Figure out a cover for the wiring under the seat/tank
  • lower the passenger foot pegs

See my thread for ideas on covering the wiring. Number plate, 7x8.5 inch oval works well. Also you could do the rear fender flip and it would look good.

To do it close to right, painting the tank is a pretty big job.
