Title: GS500 Owner's Manual - Download Here for FREE
Post by: mister on December 21, 2009, 07:22:56 PM
For all those who do NOT have an owner's manual, or those who do but would like a digital copy, I scanned my manual and turned it into a PDF file. The manual is listed as July, 2008 so it's about as current as it gets. For GS500 and GS500F.

This is NOT a repair manual, Hayne's Manual or Clymer. It's the 90 page booklet that comes with new bikes.

Download here http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/10/7/2133953/GS500-OwnerManual.pdf (13 meg)

If anything, we should upload it to the wiki or the main page.  Hosting sites like Fileden can drop an uploaded file at any moment.  If the site administrators store it on this server, it should be there until we take it down.

Good idea, Pavi.

I've tried to upload it to the Wiki under the Maintenance / Books section. And while I have been able to edit the page to suit I cannot upload the file. Upload starts - I think - but keeps timing out. The old "connection reset" error.

sweet thanks!  In my original quest to get this I ended up with digital copies of all of the repair manuals, but not the owners...

i'm all for free data, but there is a copyright notice on the 2nd or 3rth page...

maybe give suzuki a quick email for permission before hosting it on the same server that gstwins or the wiki lives on ?

just something to think about. :)

You know what happens in Australia when you call Suzuki Motorcycles head office? You get put through to Cars! That's because they don't actually have a Motorcycle Division. The cars division handle's the paperwork for the imports. And knows nothing about bikes.

They didn't even have the correct model of bike pictured on their website for the available GS down here. It was only after my call informing them of such, that the car guy passed it on to the web tech who simply added "overseas model shown". At the time even he didn't even know how to get the info to the actual tech person who could make the change on the web. Because emails to webmasters went to his office and not the tech guy. Yeah, highly organised... NOT.

Of course, things might be different in the US. But it seems to me, the more corporate anything is, the less chance of finding anyone who can make any kind of decision based on logic and reason. You'll find plenty of drones who will quote some piece of paper to you, but that's about it.

I can find all kinds of Owner Manuals for all kinds of things. Honda makes PDFs available for their bikes on their own website. BUt trying to find a user manual for the GS500 is like trying to take a close up photo of the horizon - an exercise in frustration. Of course, the site owners would have the last say of such a manual being available from their wiki. In the meantime, it's available at the link above  ;) I also made a slight change to the wiki - added the link and not the file.

Mine did this too because it was trying to download it in the background and display on the page.

Right click on the link and choose Save As and when it is finished, then open it.

Seems the link was HiJacked.

Takes me to "my flair" an advertizing page.
