Hey guys, this thread is for those of you that have crashed on your bikes.  List what bike you were riding, what caused it and the outcome.
This thread isnt for reliving bad memories rather sharing your life experiences with us.

#1
Riding along the top of a 'T' intersection from right to left.
Now remember we drive on the left here.
There were lots of cars coming in the opposite direction waiting to turn right down the T.

The first car had space and went in front of me, the second car didn't look and followed so close to the first car it was like it was being towed.

I hit the back end of the second car at about 45km/h.
I don't remember hitting the car and I actually told the police officer I put it down myself while attempting to swerve around the car. It wasnt until he interviewed the driver and came back and told me that I knew I'd hit him.

Witnesses say I flew over his boot and I remember hitting the road and rolling.
Thank god I was wearing my jacket.

I was relatively uninjured, just some minor gravel rash on my hand and knees.

My bike on the they hand......

You can see my Odometer hanging down and my handlebar is snapped off.
The bike managed to fall on both sides so it was ruined pretty nicely.

A write off that ultimately led to me buying my gs

Is that an ex250?? haha those bikes apparently have a bad history on this site.

This was mine, hit a deer at 2:30am on a dark back road. I guess my best advice is to go slow when it gets dark haha

SgtBatten

Yeh an ex250J. Its called a GPX250R here and became the ninja250 from 08 onwards.. It was a stock 2007 model with 13000kms half of which id put on it. great first bike that i was sad to see go.

Additional lighting will do Nothing when an animal jumps out from the side of the road.

You are right, however with more light you will have an easier time seeing the reflection of their eyes in the ditches.  Its about helping you activly search for a reflection not the animals body itself.

Haha, seriously. If you're on a random straight open road you might be able to pick something out but really there's no way to stop it other than going slow. The deer I hit came sprinting full speed across the road. I literally blinked, and when my eyes opened there was a 12pt buck a foot from my face. I go 25mph on back roads after dark now. I may speed up to 35 if there are cars behind me, but that's the best they're gonna get. I'm not looking to go through that one again. All I remember is tumbling on the ground as I swore inside my helmet haha.

I try to stay behind cars in situations like that. I'm hoping the car will hit the wildlife before me but knowing my luck it will jump out after the car.

I learned cagers just dont look.
I learned to be more cautious at intersections.
i learned that even on a sunny day at 3pm i am still invisible.
i learned to wear ALL my gear ALL the time, not just my jacket.
I learned crashes hurt
I learned that police take 3 hours to attend accidents
i learned lots :)
