Sanjay's Original Thread to the Wiki - http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=29002.0 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=29002.0)
Any chance we can restore all of the old Wicki and then lock it from future Edits.
Would make it much easier to copy the info across. :embarrassed:

Yeah, much easier. But Sanjay is AWOL, so looks like we will have to do it manually. I just finished "specs". Who's next?
I transferred over the pegs topic under modifications, but I can't get the photos in there correctly. Take a look and let me know what I'm doing wrong and I'll move some more over.

i've been asking him for the data for a while now.. im tired of the wiki getting hacked too..
Copying some stuff over, but I'm having issues with the sidebar. On the new page the links in the sidebar don't go to the various pages, but I hit edit and it appears that the sidebar is the same as it is for other pages that do work.
to upload pictures: in the location field of your browser where it says "action?=edit" change "edit" to "upload".
Sorry folks, I've been AWOL for a while. I will update the old wiki to password, and we'll migrate the data files over to the new wiki that GoodGuy has installed on gstwins. Hopefully it'll be relatively painless and include all the attachments, pictures, etc.
Didn't realize it had gotten so bad!! Thanks for all your help with fixing spam, everyone.
Old Wiki Password is also 'January2009' for now.
So are you going to do the transfer or do ytou want us to keep helping you out?
The biggest drama is the pictures that have been uploaded to the old wicki, for as far as I know we would have to individually upload each and eveyone singley.
There is currently a size limit on uploads (50K), which is too small for some images. Can the limit be increased, or should I reduce the image?
wait a few days folks, sanjay is moving the files over to me, so we should have things up and running soon. i thought i had increased the upload limit, i'll look into it.

I added a fairing to the upgrades section, don't think I got it exactly right inline with everything else. so please anyone feel free to edit and maybe explain exactly how to edit them so they look just like the rest of the edits. thanks
Can we leave a link to the Wicki permanently in the News section at the top of the forum. It makes it so much easier to jump to it. :thumb:
How about closing down the other wiki or mentioning that it's been moved? A google search still turns that one up LONG before the new one, so a noob would see that first and not realize it's old.
Just a suggestion, I dont want to step on anyones nuts but, How about not mentioning the passwords here, they could potentially show up on a search, what if we just say ask a moderator for the pass word at least we would be able to stop half of the ash munches.

Yes!
Get rid of the old one. Google shows it up first and even edit passwords work there. So big problem if people update two different wiki.
I just made some updates to "new one"... Couple more pics of fenderectomy (also added from old wiki some pics of über-fenderectomy, that were missing) and to Exhaust about Takkoni.
There are four links in the wiki that don't work under the General Maintenance section. You click on them and they ask for a password.
Can someone put in the handle bars section, under replacement, that Ventura VH4 bars are almost identical to the Bikemaster Superbike bars. That they cost $60 to $70.
I couldn't find Bikemaster in Australia, but the Ventura were easily ordered.

Done. But you can do it, too. The passwords are in the first post in this thread.

Cheers. Knowing my luck, if I did do it I would of deleted the entire Wiki.
Lots of good information on fairing sets etc. http://www.gs-500.info/index.php?title=Verkleidungsteile_f%C3%BCr_die_GS
Including the kind of rare Wagner set I'm using :)
Just wanted to say that the wiki needs a quick run through as most of the images are not working, are the images from different users or all google sourced?
Thats a good point, they are from everywhere and eventually fall of the face of the earth... We need to get pics moved to adidasguys image hosting server linked below. Any new additions to the wiki should have images hosted there.

Images used in the wiki are uploaded to the wiki then linked from there to the script. They shouldn't rely on any outside links after that but could be some are not doing it right. Don't mess with it much myself.
Wow, that's odd if they are actually uploaded to the wiki and they are disappearing... but that definately makes more sense to do it that way.

Made a minor update to a topic here http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Upgrades.RearShock
Anyone want to check it over and give the nod? ... Not after kudos , just did I do the edit properly?
Did the password change since last July (2020) ?
There's a broken link in the Exhaust section I'd like to remove but when I enter the password it doesn't do anything :technical:

Thank you! Let me know what you find. There are several broken links I'm aware of and I've been wanting to clean up.
Wiki has been down for a few weeks, anyone got any news on it?
wiki is back up and running!
Thanks!
Good man!
Got an issue, I rode 20 miles yesterday and no issues. I decided to pressure wash my bike today. After the wash it would not start. I jumper the starter solenoid and it started but, it idles rough and when I give it throttle it spits and sputters and dies. I am new to the page.
