powersportsnation has some really good deals. This parts whore knows a deal when I see one. Been stocking up on parts.
They're doing a progressive sale where if it doesn't sell, they increase the discount until it hits 75% off. Right now I see a wiring harness down to $2.50. Center stand down to $3.75! They did have an '06 shock for $5 and a stator for $20. I'm watching the '06 clutch basket drop in price - now down to $48 (if you need it, go for it. If it hits 75% off - I'll grab it just because.. its on sale!)

Will the '06 clutch baskt fit in a '96?
That I do not know. Someone else should know.
It should fit according to http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_years/4433-suzuki-2001-gs500/assemblies/124746.
From what I've seen taking apart different year motors, the engine has been unchanged except for some very very minor tweaks and mods in the 2004+ models. Different oil pan for cooler line fittings, mechanical tach pickup sealed off in the head, spring washers to prevent cam noise? etc etc. Nothing major.
Clutch basket down to $44. Soon price will be low enough to buy it just because I'm a parts whore.
Got 04-09 carbs for $89 + free shipping.
Got '08 complete exhaust nearly perfect condition $89 + 35 shipping.
Got extra rear shocks only because I wanted the 1989 cast aluminum knuckle because I think it looks cool all polished up compared to the 90+ black steel knuckle. (shocks? Or toss in the trash? Same for stock links: recycle bin or?)
Watch closely and there are some good deals. Remember bike breakers price by the part - not condition. Look at the photos. That's how I found nearly new, hardly used, brake calipers and rotors for next to nothing.

This guy is parting a bike for ridiculously low prices. Good thing is he has a video of the bike running before parting it out.
Nah, I got a good ddeal on carbs from our own for sale section here. $40 shipped to my house.
Ghost - you fail to mention that the carbs you bought are Not working carbs haha
79.99 for carbs that Actually work is a great deal!
Any bike breaker that shows a video of the bike makes it all the better.
Then - why part out a running bike? Must be for the money or lack of title.
Well, when no one else bids I add to the collection.....
forks $20 tank $30 top-end with valves & cams $30 and other stuff really cheap. Good deals since parts were off a running bike. Oh, set of 89 clip-ons $25
bargains are out there if you look.
nvm

That motor is in NJ. Too expensive to ship to Seattle. One of you nor-east coasters should look into this - especially if you can pick it up.
I would be if I had that much laying around.
Just incase tho, think I'll put around $300 aside next pay (20th) and then the rest 2 weeks after that.
if its still there (doubtful but just incase)
Heck, I would be spending that much rebuilding my 94s upper engine like I plan to.
Think I will email him an offer for the 20th tho and see if he bites.
nice find, thanks
(edit)
sent him an offer to pick it up on the 20th or 21st with a certain amount of cash in hand.
or else I have to wait until May 4th if he wont budge from the full amount.
even tho it is a good deal, I just dont have that much available asap.
thanks for the find man!
(edit)
didnt accept my initial offer.
after replying to his noty, he sent me a counter offer.
guess he thought I was simply trying to lowball. (I wasnt)
Good offer, now I just have to see if I will have that much to spare on the 20th.
Now to also hope it doesnt sell before then.
I won't buy it. $250 shipping is too much. $650 is almost the price of a beat up GS500 around here or 3 parts bikes.
Yeah its located only like an hour, hour and a half drive Tops from where I am.
Been in contact with the seller and as long as it doesnt sell by next Friday, im def buying it.
instead of rebuilding my original 94 (to make the reason for buying it short)
which would end up costing a bit more.
(edit)
Big thanks for posting that adidas!!
After some msgs in the past 24 hrs.
He is going to hold it for me until I get paid as long as I pay the asking price.
Which is perfectly fine by me :thumb:
So in a week, shes All mine :thumb:

How much would it cost to ship this to Aust? from your location?
You say youre a parts whore....
You wouldn't happen to have forks and a wheel to fit a 08GS would you?
I'd be willing to pay for postage and handeling as i live in AUS
But i'm desperate for these i got quoted $560 each for just the inners new yesterday and almost cried...
much love

I asked the eBay seller if he had the mounting hardware for the cowl and he said no, only the cowl itself.
1. Don't know about shipping of forks and wheel. I'd have to spend some time determining that. I happen to be getting into my busy season for business (the bowling business - software - with new release in 2 months) so I'm getting really busy and not devoting much time to parts except easy local people picking up things.
2. Headlight cowling mountings can be copied from existing ones. Not that hard to do.
3. Don't know about shipping a headlight cowling, either. I'm not buying it as I still have a couple I'm not using right now.
Well if you do decide you would like or be able to ship the forks i would appreciate it. Either way what ever you decide would you be able to let me know please. my email address is b_rad_c25_93@hotmail.com
thankyou.
As soon as I take care of 2 people's parts I'm pretty much out of it for a couple months with business. It takes a lot of time to get parts out, check them, pack them and ship them.

Adidas always handles any GS parts with extreme care! Good luck with the new software releases Adidas!

Saw a motor on ebay in Texas. Starting bid $125 and no bids yet.
I wonder why? Kind of funny - - - - Bolding & stuff by me --- but might be a good deal for a bottom end.

Hi,
Up for sale is a GS 500 motor that will work in several years of the GS 500 family. This motor does NOT run and I can tell you exactly why it doesn't. It swallowed a valve seat! There is some upper engine/cylinder damage because of this. It happened while the motor was at idle so the damage is not severe. The head will probably have to be replaced. The stator is not included. All the connectors are fine except for the ignition connector, it's cracked. The right side cover looks okay but the left one is scratched. I don't know the exact mileage but when the bike was bought in it had about 2500 miles on it. This engine will need to be repaired before it's installed in anything. Also included is the PAIR valve. This has been stored indoors under a cover.
FYI: http://www.ebay.com/itm/110934943489?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
if it were closer.....MAYBE. But not with a shipping tag of 250. They are REALLY over inflating these shipping prices
+2 on packing and shipping. I ship things for my customers on Monday usually. It might fall back to Tues some weeks but it is an ALL DAY event. Packing, hot gluing, printing labels, ect. What a PITA
Yeah $250 for shipping is a bit nuts. I just bought a motor (coincidentally also from El Paso) for a little under $500, and shipping to MD was included. Though it did show up, and this isn't a joke or exaggeration, in a rubbermaid bin. :icon_neutral: The Fedex guy walked out of his truck holding a rubbermaid container, hobbled halfway up my driveway, and said "It says this thing weighs 145lbs.....want to test it?"
I carried it up into the garage and laid it on the floor. It took my friend and I a good 20 minutes to get it into the bike. Thats 10 minutes of debating the contents of the container, 5 minutes to get it out of the container, and another 5 minutes to actually put it in the bike.
Someone selling cam journal caps. For those with a cracked one and want to try just replacing one, here's your chance:

I would give him an offer if i was looking for a whole motor.....says it was laid down and the forks were bent....says he cant test it because he has no key, but on a bench the motor turns and it runs through the gears......I would buy it based on the fact that it ran when itt was crashed, and if it turns over, it is a fine motor. Offer him $150.....fuggit!
Yeah, my first motor rotated and went through all the gears too and it had a spun rod bearing. If he guaranteed it ran then thats one thing, listing it for parts is another and ESPECIALLY when it comes down to PayPal disputes.
Now if you got 300-400 to blow and wont miss it, thats one thing. I dont. I gots to play safe.
Oh, you were talking about just the motor. I thought a whole bike. Sorry for the confusion. I'm blond, old, grumpy, single, available, filled with 1999 Vincent Arroyo Merlot and bowled a 577 tonight. Then measured the resistance of various plugs and plug caps.
Time to watch Family Guy reruns.
Another class of 1999 Merlot and I might make an offer on the motor. You can never have enough spare parts when you have 3 titled frames to make into GS500's. (I have no idea how I came on that many - really!)
Yeah, if it were the entire bike, you could part it out and make it back. But there is not much money in an engine being parted out unless its all a good engine and a good engine shouldnt get parted out!

It would be. Plug the hole for the mechanical tach. Put in your timing rotor and timing pickup and you're ready.
Looks like that motor is missing the starter so move that over or ask me - I have a few on the shelf.
You would might need your present intake manifold boots, but I find the older ones fit new carbs. (Old carbs don't fit newer ones so you're OK).
It is one great deal. If no one bids on it, then I've contacted the seller to get it shipped to Seattle. I WILL NOT BID ON IT because I have plenty of parts but can't let this go out for parts & scrap because he can't sell it.
If you email the seller, mention GSTWINS and I think he will work with you on shipping.
Engines that guys wont ship and require personal pickup normally dont go to high because it eliminates a lot of potential bidders/buyers. If he was close to me I know I would bid on it simply for a backup
I have been in contact. He will ship to me.
Email him, ask about it and mention you saw it on gs twins.
Don't overbid as shipping is probably $150
I sent him an email thanks adidasguy great pick.
Guy with the motor just put more of the bike up for bid. Forks, carbs, tank. You know I'll be watching for the end of the auctions and snatch up things with no bids.

$1000 for an 09 that needs a $70 battery and looks like it already has a Yoshi on it?
Why is that still even on ebay?
Of course the seller gives like ZERO info about it. He might not even have a title. Mileage would be good to know and also to know even if it runs at all.
But still, $1k is good
From what I can tell, it was down pretty good on its left side.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-suzuki-gs-500-/251205789262?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
We were talking about that one last week. The previous auction didn't go high enough to meet his reserve. Wish I was close enough to check it out in person
Any time I see pics of a newer bike for sale, for really cheap, parked inside on carpet/hard wood/etc, I assume that they haven't kept up with their payments and the bank is looking for it. So no title. He conveniently didn't fill in that section. Would make a sweet track bike though.
And his description of it after his wreck is "driveable" that doesn't mean that the forks aren't tweaked or the frame cocked.
I know a lot of people here in Arizona who park their bikes inside because they get stolen alot. Really easy to pick up and take the bike. Not to say that what you said isnt true though.

It sold for $800 so it says. Seller never sold anything before.
I'd love to be standing behind the buyer when he/she/it attempts to license it. OR most likely will be parted out. Worth more as parts than $800. Probably knows it is hot.

Bet you could get it for $100 then even at $150 it is a steal. I don't really need it - I have 2 new "F" tanks and one "E" tank for my upcoming builds. Then, no one wanted a set of Sonic springs and I got them for $9.95. I guess I'm just an old dumb blond parts whore. Someday you'll see me on "Worlds Worst Hoarders" with a huge pile of GS500 parts.

That's the secret to LIFE, my friend.
I have had forks sent from the US for my other bike. $100 in postage. So the springs by themselves seem the best option for me. Figured I would hit you up since I will be getting a set of Sonics .85s soon
That tank went for like $78. I have plenty so I didn't want it (i.e have a place to store it). Did someone here spring in with that last minute bid?

hmm that shim kit... hey Adidas, do you want/need a kit? i could pitch in on that and procure other nice things in exchange...no joke; I think i could use a valve check anyway, and for the price of two hours at Aurora suzuki i could become an established member of the bike cave! (with my luck it would be missing the shims i need)
Also i don't know if anyone posted this already but 'new' 89 tank ending soon at under $100 shipped :o

That shim case is legit. Lid closes tightly and keeps all shims in place. Too bad it looks to have all the larger shims, and hardly none of the ones usable on the gs. I think adidas picked up a green one already. It'd be a good buy if you can talk him down from that crazy price. I got mine for $65 shipped on ebay w/ 80+ shims in it. I love Chinese el-cheapo crap. You're gonna love light aluminum bars. Buy powdered milk now to fill them up.
Love to challenge them to a stress test. Put in a vice. Hit end with average hammer. I bet they bend! Steel bars? Those farklers I can't bend or straighten bent ones without a drop forge. One OEM steel tube = weight of a gross of Chinese aluminum bars.

I think the consensus on this board is powdered milk. Some use olive oil, but it can leak out. BB's can be cool - if not packed tight they can vibrate and make noise like one of those 70's swoosh swoosh thingies used in funky hippie bands.
I would think buddha would advise you on this but he hasn't posted much at all lately. He logs on, but he no post-eee. It works better if he posts. He has special design.

I see. Powder milk IS finer, so It probably packs better. I just have a back of quickrete here I will never use for anything. I can swing a couple bucks on powdered milk though. I wanted to find steel bars, but all the replacements I found were aluminum so I gave up, found the ones on sale, and figured what the hell, If they are complete garbage I'm not out much.

I wouldn't worry too much about vibes. I ran a set of lightweight woodcraft bars in oem 89 clip-ons for a few thousand miles. Even cut them shorter and opened the ends up for bar end mirrors. I didn't get as much vibes as people seem to say the little gs creates. You should be ok as long as you're not expecting a Cadillac smooth ride :thumb:

That crummy seat is not use - it has been ABUSED!
As for those parts carbs for $9.99
Well - those damn things are expensive! You know what they sold for? $13.50! WTF! I'll have to run them through the ultrasonic cleaner! And I scored on a whole bunch of other stuff for like $9 each. Gettin' ready to build 3 more GS500's.
The seller with the full fairing asked for my shipping address. That's a good sign.
Holy Crap! When the listing said it didn't have stickers, I thought it was used. Listing says NEW! WOW! MEOW! PURRRR!
I know I could buy another GS500 for the cost of the fairing and shipping - but they are so cool! I LOVE the one on Junior. It is such a great feeling to ride him with the fairing.
Still need someone un the UK for a couple parts where the seller won't ship to the USA.
Anyone? Sledge care to help me?
Theres a few euro style clip ons on that UK eBay for reasonable prices.

First one looks like shorties type 1 with original bars
Second one is obviously type 2 "talls"
3rd one looks like type 1 shorts with aftermarket aluminum bars.
Who would be our shipping contact in the UK or Germany for sellers that won't ship to the USA? One will ship to Germany or UK. Probably would ship to Portugal.
I hope we can build an international network.

Pretty sure the clevis has been shortened to fit in a GS.
No labels I can see. I do not know the length. It turned up on ebay super cheap so I wonder if it is worth it for the cost of a tank of gas?
Sorry I edited my post.
I want this bike! Someone in Germany please ship it to me!
Looks like it except it must have been cut and re-drilled to fit like a stock shock.
Worth it?
Honestly. I can't see the SV shock being much better than the GS one unless the GS one absolutely shot. Looks like it is only preload adjustable like the GS. A lot of the SV riders upgrade their suspension too. What does he want for it?
$35
But I am happy with the GS rear shock (as long as it is not 20 years old - I replace old ones with newer ones) so I guess I really don't need it.
$35 is too much for that IMO. I got my SV for $20 and its 2011 model? Also mine looks new.
I'm not buying it. Working on getting those parts out of UK and Germany.
Bought a fairing. These things are pretty rare to find one still in the box. UNFORTUNATELY it doesn't have the stickers on it.
Thought: If I'm making a purple/gold Univ. Wash. Husky bike, why not add a white cougar to the red fairing and make a Washington State Univ. Cougar bike?
That would be funny to see two GS's head to head at a motorcycle show.

Doing 2 bikes from rival universities would be funny. One in Seattle. The other is on the other side of the state and across the Cascade Mountains. They have an annual rival football game called the "Apple Cup". What a site if 2 GS's with opposing team colors were parked together at the UW campus on game day. The plain red fairing would be easy to have an artist put on the eastern university's logo. They use red with white.

Sometimes you score for $34.99 total for all
Though the carbs ($13.50) are really gummed up. The sliders do move! So they may be usable if cleaned up.
Turn signals are a 2001-2002 set which means they have the long stalks for the front. These are pretty hard to find.

This belly pan looks just like the belly pan from the super bike store except not complete and no hardware. You add shipping and its just as expensive as a brand new one with all the parts. This is a bad deal in my opinion.

I'm working on it. Ad says only ships to Germany. I'm asking. Maybe Jim K will buy it and ship it. asking him, too. It has a crack and was repainted. Given the rarity and everyone seems to love the "E" fairing over the "F", I might as well get another one. If you want it, come here or I can deliver one if bribed a little.

his one needs painting and will probably go to BrianRC since he wanted one.

Someone local would be necessary to eliminate shipping. Then list all the stuff on ebay and keep any GS500 parts for us. I know it is worth more than the starting bid. I only looked up parts with "01D" in them. many parts that are Suzuki generic do not have the model designator in it. Probably lots of rare parts.
Who wants to handle the selling of parts? I'd contribute.
I have that parts cross reference program a guy in Canada was selling. It cross reverences everything by part number through 2000.
I have been too cheap at sending out green and red gauge caps.

I see he has a reserve. Good luck getting it for less than $1000
Been cleaning up the bike cave tonight. I found a couple boxes full of parts: turn signals, side covers, stators, gauges, brakes, levers, coils, etc. that I didn't know I had. I have no idea where all these parts came from. Maybe I don't need to buy all those parts?
You Sir are a true parts whore.
When you have no idea where these parts come from you know you have a problem :icon_mrgreen:

I emailed him and he said his reserve was at $1000 but that if it goes close to might sell to the highest bidder
Not that I want this seat, it is interesting. Similar to Gimbel. I didn't l know this company existed.

"Condition: This gas tank is used and does have some damage to it. The tank has two dents with rust on the right side, a dent with rust on the left side of the tank, multiple rust spots around the base of the tank, multiple scratches, scuffs and dings over the entire tank, faded paint on top of the tank, rust on the bottom of the tank and is missing the gas cap/petcolk. There is also light scratches and scuffs. When we looked inside there is heavy rust, however we cannot see the entire inside of the tank. We suggest that you assume that you will need to clean and reseal the interior of the tank with tank sealer prior to mounting. We are not able to check for leaks."

How do you search other countries?
Do you go to each site of said country or do you just tick worldwide?
A parts whore doesn't give away all his secrets :flipoff:
Actually, I was looking for another LEFT control with the passing button. Then I stumbled on those.
I had bought a left control NOS with passing switch from them for Junior and one of Junior's wheels is NOS from same dealer in Greece.
Searching worldwide helps. Strings like "NOS" or "NEW" help, as do GM51A and GM51B
Sent you a PM earlier BTW.
Dont know if you got it?
I did. I'll keep it in mind if I get there. I personally never have been there even living here 25 years. I only do the Space Needle when people visit. If you come here, I'll take you to that place of which you ask!

I dont think that car is gonna do 240kph :dunno_black:
:icon_eek: .... How dare you Sir!! ..... Pure Muscle Car!! ..... Admittedly not as hardcore as the Mitsubishi Colt '45' of 80's vintage.... :icon_rolleyes:
Yeah I thought of the speed range after the fact too..... But... My little diesel ute shows 180!! On the dial...... Which brings the question .... If the thing was falling off a cliff... Enabling 180kph ... Then how would the needle show anything... If the wheels were not in contact with the ground?!?
I think they might have mis labelled it somehow.... It's the type of size to fit like in a Goldwing fairing or something?! ....
Maybe the work experience dude muffed it!?

Not of much value unless you have a TCP or FiveStars fairing for your "E"model (or naked "F"---- he he I said NAKED!)
It is only a front portion of the lower fairing. Usless by itself.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
Do keep an eye on that dealer. That's where I get lots of NOS parts. She's a really nice person to buy from. You can request parts and she will see if she can find them. She is selling parts from an old warehouse.
I highly recommend her if she has the parts you want. never a problem and she really works to help you. I got all parts but one for the "E" fairing NOS! I just had to ask.
One night a NOS clip on set showed up. I snatched it up. Ashed if she had anymore and that's how I got 3 sets NOS (one on Junior, one on Phenix and one in the drawer for later) for $150 each.

Too much :cookoo: My running GS only cost me $600. If you can source an engine for $200 then fine but otherwise $250 max imo
Unles you want to break it and sell all parts individually then you can still make some money back :dunno_black:
yeah , break it was my intention... i need a few minor bolts and may keep a few bits otherwise...
i know it says frame only... but in the pic there is a carb set hanging off there!! .. and another thing i dont know what it is .. but some part of the engine area?....
i just started to have Adidas type urges regarding parts ... i have room in the warehouse to store them....
hmmmm.. (https://gstwins.com/gsboard/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.smileyvault.com%2Falbums%2Fuserpics%2F13617%2Fscratch-head02-idea-animated-animation-smiley-emoticon-000415-large.gif&hash=7824f149f86d8891bf6fa3d3d33ef06716524940)
sent the dude an email anyway ... offered a bit below what he asking... see if he bites.... providing the carbs and the other thing are included
Odd - he needed the engine but left the oil cooler. I winder if he already had one or will be surprised later when the engine doesn't get oil with it missing.
mmm yeah .. thinking he just needed the 'heart' .. busted his old one in a dramatic way somehow?
Found this last night.

Even with the exorbitant shipping price the total cost is less than new at TwistedThrottle.com.

Looks nicely done. Excellent seams from what I can see. Would like to see the bottom of it, but looks good otherwise. Not a bad price for the kind of work. Normally, you'd pay 150-200 for a shop to recover it for you.. and here you are getting a seat with that price.
- Bboy
Don't tempt me to add it to the Bike Cave hoard of parts. (I'm bidding on the new V&H exhaust with my max bid of $222. In case anyone wants to out bid me - that's OK.)
Been busy buying up spare parts for the 2 current bike builds and the 2 more in the cue.
Just sayin'... I'd buy it if I had an E model...
With this, you could get a newly custom recovered seat, and sell your old one to recoup some cost... or keep both to put your stock one on later when you sell your bike and sell the nice one separate...
Possibilities. And it does have a nice price tag :dunno_black:

Seems someone bought it. I wonder who? :dunno_black:

The threads do not fit Suzuki forks.

FORK CAP UPDATE:
I will be sending a fork cap and order 10 sets.
Should I order 20 sets?
they look purty!! .. and i like them... but i have standard bars, not ever likely to change to clipons because my back and wrists couldnt handle the extra lean/drop ... unless someone has a standard bar solution that allows space for these things? ... :dunno_black:
Bar risers would give you some space, and ease up on your back if you're a bit taller.
Adidas, are you saying you're going to rethread the forks, or do they actually fit? I'm confused lol.
They will make fork caps that fit our forks. The thread size is what they need so I'm sending them a fork cap.
I'll then get 10 sets.
They DO fit with standard bars.
They look cool. What other reason do you need to have them?

UPDATE on ADJUSTABLE FORK CAPS:
Sending him one to get the correct thread size. I'm sure it is nothing more than setting the CNC lathe to a different thread pitch. Piece of cake as long as he knows the correct threads.
Otherwise, the cap is perfect as is.
I should have 10 sets soon and hopefully he will add them to the caps to his bay listings. For once I am thankful to Chinese knock off's as no one else is making adjustable fork caps.
will fit with standard bars?... ok put me down for a set.... just silver..
let me know when you need funds by Addy
